But i like it so far if only for the visuals and the batshit crazy scene. I like the movement system. The whole landscape is a navigational puzzle. So i get what they're going for here

Yes.

Also, it's good that you like the navigation because it really is the central gameplay loop of the title. The horror segments are neat but you'll pretty quickly get into a position where they're not terribly difficult anymore.

If you're interested in completely trivializing combat, here's a neat little trick: normally you can only injure the creatures with blood bullets, but if you use a blood grenade, any bullet you shoot through the blood mist will harm the creature as well. So all you need to completely make every enemy in the game a total joke is a bunch of blood grenades and a shotgun. Throw grenade at the enemy, unload your shotgun into the blood mist, and then repeat until everything is dead.

I honestly can't remember when exactly I played it. I think it was late 2020. This despite having bought it in store when it came out.

Second time through the game. I completed it on hard. The BT segments are really easy if you just take it slow. I don't think I got got more than twice in the entire game and that was when I was being careless.

I'm just curious to see what they add to make it feel unique again in some way. If they're reusing the whole engine they build up for all the movement, then they should have a lot more development time available to work on brand new mechanics. If it ends up being just more of the same that'll be a huge disappointment, especially coming from a studio that wants to build its reputation around unfettered creativity without having their hands tied by a publisher like konami.

Despite out of there concept, the themes of the narrative is basically punched right into your face, so typical kojima story. Not that i hate it, kinda charming in some way.

it has combat and stealth, but it's clear that those elements weren't the focus.

I restarted the game a month or so ago. I love it.

Just determining the best way to get from point A to B across varying terrain. Do you take the time to follow this river until you can find a shallow area to walk through or do you build a ladder walkway across the river rocks which is riskier? As the game goes on you get more tools to work with like roads, zip lines, vehicles, and floating carriers. You'll also be able to build things that help you hold more cargo and fight off the enemies instead of just sneaking past them.

The delivery aspect is like a relaxing puzzle imo.

I personally also love finding packages a little out of the way, but for the person I'm going to so I'll work my way over there, and then oh hey I found a package going to the place I'm returning to, let me do a little side shuffle over here and there and then oh now I found packages to the 3rd place I was going after the return visit and now I am here with an entire building worth of packages attached to my back but im lovin it

I can think of like, 2 jump scares and they are real early. One is like a 'HAND PRINT SUDDENLY ON A WINDOW'. I haven't done the new content of the Director's Cut yet though. There also could be others further on I'm forgetting as it's been a bit since I played the end game. >_>

I hate horror games and I was able to play though this with minimum stress. (I did also have the game set to easy and it was super easy to kill the BTs)

Basically none on the jumpscares front. There are something like three (or so) that could kind of qualify but the game is more about having an atmosphere of dread than the "0 to 100" that jumpscares are.

"Spooks" on the other hand, is a bit harder. The enemies can be spooky, but not really in a horror way. They are more supposed to be offputting than scaring you.

The enemies aren't really threatening (and so not terribly spooky) unless you just stand around, TBH.
It's mostly smoke and mirrors.

There's one jumpscare that's completely avoidable but you can also trigger it randomly without knowing it's going to happen. Just, uh, don't tap on BB in your resting room
