What the heck is it with these people and participation trophies. No one who gets one of these things feel like they won the whole thing. Unless they were raised by Republicans, the person who came in first with their big ass trophies are not looking at people who got participation trophies saying damn my win is less. Before I use to run long races. Everyone got medals. And it was just like hey you ran a 10 K good for you , Bob was on his ass this Saturday. No one looked at that and said. Wow I'm just as good as number one.

And even if you hate them. The government going out of their way to ban them. Come on.

It's basically just giving kids some kind of memento when they compete in a sports league or some school event. Everyone always knew this.

I agree with doing away with participation trophies. I'm curious though why Republicans would be opposed to it.

When you give trophies only to those who have achieved higher results than others, you encourage people to strive harder. Encouraging people to better themselves -- financially, intellectually, etc. -- seems to go against the nature of the Republican party. They want people laying bricks, carrying grocery bags, taking out trash, etc. Those jobs have to be done, and I'm not knocking the people that do them, but Republicans want more people closer to the bottom than to the top.

I would think that participation would be something they would want to encourage. "You're carrying my bags, yes, but you're carrying American bags for an American. And in doing so, you're helping me to keep this country great."

Im the kid of two Boomers, and I never got a single participation trophy for any league I ever played in. My kids, however, have a box full of them.
