Might be worth noting the press conferences weren't actually part of E3, and I assume that's what most people think of when it comes to their favorite things about E3.

2006 and 2015 were legendary. rip.

2015 had the Sony Redemption Arc where FF7R, Shenmue III, and The Last Guardian were announced. We can talk about how that went but at the time the hype was nuts.

Though for me it also had the Nier Automata announcement out of nowhere.

Well yes and no. They were scheduled to be at the same time as E3 for a reason even if technically they were separated

2015 was meh. Those announcements were just logos about half of which turned into great games years later. The Shenmue III Kickstarter thing in particular was a real uh, are you sure you want to hype this? moment for fans. Its the kind of thing that was announced as this huge moment because Shenmue III was an internet meme and the result was a poorly received, badly selling game four and a half years later.

Now, 2016, that was a better E3.

Yeah there was a lot of cringe, but I'm glad many of those moments occured.

Goodbye Ubisoft just dance segments, Mr Caffeine, Aisha Tyler making many devs look tiny.

I look back on Wii Music demo fondly.

E3 hasnt been relevant since before 2007, amazed it survived as long as it did.

E3 supercuts making fun of conferences and announcements that took place that week were often great to watch.

A modern E3 would be advertisements for energy drinks, computer gear, and whatever new hip nachos they can come up with. There would be 5 seconds of video games before going back to a 15 minute music piece non video game releated. Then Dwyane Johnson comes in to advertise his new movie.

This is what E3 looked like 2 years ago. You really think it'd be that different 2 years later?

There's no demand for a trade show or something like the airshow for gaming.
But had they just pivoted into essentially becoming a convention, that happened to have trailers drop during special guest panels, would that had made people want to attend?
