I gained 55 lbs during covid in two years. I started changing my habits, I am 10 lbs down, but I hate how I became more chubby and I feel like it make me look a lot older and I used to be mistaken for younger all the time. I feel like I am getting exhausted way too quickly. Changing bad eating habits is harder than I thought(and why was it easier to lose weight when I was single)

So for those who lost a lot of weight during Covid. What kept you motivated?

Calories in vs calories out is the entire mechanism of weight loss, but you're always taking calories in.

Stupid human bodies think that storing fat is useful because they don't understand there is no danger of starving.

Definitely didn't lose weight during covid but routine helps a lot, if you get yourself accustomed to doing something then you'll be more likely to keep it up.

Lost 20 pounds during lockdown. I had nothing else to do and it happened to be spring so I took lots of runs and bought training equipment. Also had more time to cook and research things like nutrition and recipes. Ultimately it boils down to free time. 40 hour work weeks subject you to the quickest options available, fast food and snacks and lots of (needed) rest. So COVID really helped to shine a light on how beneficial those things can be for your health if you work them into your schedule.

I also later caught C Diff that fall and that was probably the most effective way to lose weight lol

I lost a bit of weight over covid mostly because I was too stingy for doordash and clones, and just cooked my own stuff.
...then I found out booze could be delivered

In my experience it's tough for two reasons:

  1. Losing weight is pretty darn slow. Like 0.5 lbs a week is actually great progress, that's 26lbs in a year, but it's hard to appreciate the work you put in when it takes so long
  2. Most calorie restriction diets will see immediate results the first week because you're losing a lot of water weight really quickly, so you'll see the scale go down 3-5lbs and be ecstatic. But then after water weight levels normalize your total body weight will stagnate or even creep up, even if you're burning body fat

Also personally my body weight only decreases in water wooshes which is satisfying but really fucking annoying. Like I'll cut hard for three weeks, see no weight loss, have a cheat day, and then the body will flush out water weight and I'll be 5lbs lighter. The body is weird lol

Makes sense, but technically I gained 50 lbs during two years so. Maybe it's just that we tend to see bad consequences as having a bigger impact than positive stuff

Also I hate how all my underwear give me a plumber Crack now and I dont wanna buy tons of new ones
