I said I have a better chance than probably any of you. It's a reasonable assumption especially given that every one of you so far has pretty definitively stated how fine you think everything is going to be.

It was super easy to infer with even just the limited information here. I guess I just pay attention, which seems to be weird nowadays, and maybe that is exactly where the disconnect is actually coming from.

I know that the tendency when confronted with the end of everything you know is denial and anger but I really hope you'll take care of yourselves.

Even just 100 gallons of water and a few months of food can go a long way toward upping your odds, but more than anything just having a plan for what is inevitably going to happen is better than nothing.

Like I said, I have a few places to go. And Ive got enough supplies and extra to get me there. Whether you want to believe me is up to you Also, chances are way less than 90% will die Thats pretty much just some BS you made up, which is why no one really believe anything youve said this whole time Especially since nothing apocalyptic (that most of humanity cant survive) will happen in the next decade You just keep assuming people have a hard time realizing it, when it actuality, most of us just live in the real world

Realistically, extensive prepping isn't going to help much for the vast, vast majority of people, since it just makes you a target. There's always going to be somebody better-armed (or with more of an army) who can take whatever you amass, unless you're genuinely one of the richest people in the world. Most people's best bet will just be to learn what they can forage locally and subsist off of that.

It's not that you have a hard time realizing it, it's that you have a hard time admitting it. Which is probably good as a delaying tactic but you're all joking if you think that's more than it is.

If you're really interested I'll list off a bit. I keep 3000 gallons on a dual rainwater filter system at both properties.

Wind and solar power plus a couple of gas generators that I largely consider useless.

I keep a 4 year supply of food on hand that I could easily stretch with rationing, but wouldn't need to. I have arable soil, and the ability to grow, hunt or forage for my meals.

Tools, seeds, firearms, canvas, tarps and just a literal buried shipping container of other crap.

I live here, so I don't need to travel to get here (good luck with that when it's all falling apart by the way)

My most recent purchase was 5 extra pairs of steel toed boots. More than enough to last a lifetime. I am thinking so far ahead it's laughable.

Like I said, the only thing I lack is skilled medical care, which simply won't exist when it all tumbles down.

To a group of people who are still pretending everything is fine, I seem crazy. 2 years from now? 3? 4? When the signs are so obvious that you cant keep pretending?

That is the point when I expect the tune to change. That is the point when instead of crazy, ill be called selfish. A few years after that I don't expect there will be many people left to call me anything, if I'm even still around myself.

For your firearms, you know how to use them well, correct? Skilled medical care will still exist. You mostly just need knowledge and tools for that... And honestly, I would think that's pretty important... Wouldn't wan to be taken out by something completely preventable by just not having someone who knew what to do...

As for me, traveling won't be an issue. I said I have somewhere to go. But it doesn't mean it's actually far away... It's actually pretty close by... Also, you claim we're pretending everything is fine. But to rational people, you're pretending everything is falling apart to act like you'll outlive everyone... So, do you have any actual proof that things are going bad? Because you still haven't actually shown us anything... Just assumptions based on nothing...

Basically... Saying you're prepped is only so much. With the amount of things that could happen, prepping well depends on what the actually collapse consist of... Man-made collapses could be very different from a natural disaster... And if it hits where you are, then a bunker or whatever might not be enough...

The fact that you are trying to guess which of the dozen or so humanity ending disasters that are looming over us I am referring to should maybe give you some indication of how bad shit is getting.

People in certain parts of certain first world countries are still fairly sheltered, but the storm is coming.

Depending on the circumstances, we will probably be fine. We are in prepper mode and we have stockpiles if food and supplies, as well as more than one water supply (river, lake, and well). We also have tons of farmland for crops, and livestock. Plus we have heavy machinery and a large stockpile of fuel. On top of that we are well armed to help defend against raiders, though I imagine a small handful of adults and children would likely do poorly against a large group.

I feel like folks who live on farms would do a lot better than most. It's secluded, so the odds of someone stumbling on you are pretty low, but the ability to produce food is a lot better than a house in the woods. Sounds to me like you could make people think it wasn't worth their time at least, which is going to be all it takes usually.

Keep in mind that Most people are dead, and the ones left who rely on raiding and looting are probably not going to be in the best shape.

I'm glad to see that at least a few of you sound like you might make it beyond that first week.

If it weren't for the threat of other people, we'd likely have the means and knowledge to survive indefinitely. The problem is our complete lack of any fortification, lack of means to quickly erect fortification, and sheer manpower required to defend a homestead of this size (80 acres). Best case scenario we would pull in a large number of like minded individuals to create a self supporting community. These people could work the land and defend it.

Pokeweed is a beautiful plant. I'm kinda curious what a poke salad tastes like. You're probably better off cooking them, but you can generally eat small quantities of elderberries raw. Just don't eat unripe ones. Given a choice I'd probably go after other berries, though. Elderberries are kinda eh flavor wise. They also have the annoying habit of apparently attracting flies that like to lay eggs in the fruit, so when harvesting them you potentially get the benefit some extra white wiggly protein.

Honestly the two plants don't really look anything alike if you ask me, but if you're not familiar with either I guess I could see the confusion. I feel the fruit of wild grapes and moonseed are more easily mistakable, but there are obvious differences there too.

Yeah. It you want to keep the conversation, on you advanced settings, change hide ignored quotes to no. That will allow you to see the conversation, even if an ignored person has been quoted. If you choose yes, then anyone who quotes them will also be invisible
