If they were bred specifically for fighting dogs then that means they would have an unusually high aggression towards other dogs, not humans, since nobody is going to go out of their way to create a breed of dog that's impossible to control.

aggression is aggression. if you examine data about dog attacks on humans, pitbulls are overwhelmingly more dangerous than all other dog breeds combined.

can any dog snap? sure. but the problem with pitbulls is that when they snap, they cause excessive amounts of damage because thats literally what they were designed to do.

Pitbulls encompass multiple dog breeds that are all extremely popular and their mixes are everywhere as well. Are pitbulls overwhelmingly represented in dog breed stats because they're overwhelmingly aggressive or is it because pitbulls and their mixed breeds are overwhelmingly represented in the dog population in general?

I googled some statistics to agree here, but apparently pitbulls make up for about 20% of dog bites, and also around 20% of dogs.

Now I'm not sure if there are just way too many pitbulls in this country. Also, statistics are all over the place. Either way, I would be okay with something like harsher laws around pitbull owners for if their pitbull attacks or something.

that and they've literally been designed over generations to be as efficient at killing and maiming as possible. their jaw grip strength alone far surpasses any other breed.

Not literally. More like a natural progression of laws to try and at the least, deter pit ownership. I wouldn't be opposed to dog insurance though.
