And Marges father.

It doesnt make sense for him to only show up briefly in a flashback. If hes canonically dead he can show up in a longer flashback.

I don't remember who he is
From an old episode Marge takes up Bowling and he's her teacher, Homer starts neglicting her and he starts hitting on her, There;s mutual attraction between them but ultimately Marge decides to stick it out with Homer in the end rejecting Jacques, I've no idea what his thing is in the return but given how creatively bankrupt the show is and how little character development matters in the show it's probably a retread of his debut episode.

ok i might be in the minority, but i dont think the current show is as bad as people make it out to be. the show is catered to today's audience, so those who don't like it are probably retro fans of the show who wish it would "go back to the basics". if the show tried to strictly cater to the retro fans, no current fans would find it appealing. if the show doesn't adapt to current culture, it won't last. so i think their tactic of accommodating current viewers while occasionally dazzling retro fans is a nice idea.

i think the new series is a drop in quality, but not as bad as people claim it is, IMO.

I stand slightly corrected. Apparently it was his ghost and it was a Treehouse of Horror episode:
https://simpsons.fandom.com/wiki/Frank_Grimes
Frank Grimes appears in Treehouse of Horror XXVII. In the opening sequence, Frank's ghost joins Sideshow Bob's army of the Simpsons' enemies along with Kang and the Leprechaun. However, after being tricked alongside the others into dancing, Maggie decapitates all of them. However, Frank "survives" and puts his head back on due to already being dead, although he is forced to watch all of the Simpsons episodes that were ever made in a row as his punishment in Hell as he looks at a huge mosaic saying "600" with all 600 episodes playing in the background. Even though Grimes is a ghost in Treehouse of Horror XXVII, the Treehouse of Horror episodes aren't canon and thus Grimes never became a ghost.

Kinda funny when you look at Family Guy Lois cheats on Peter all the time even outside of those little cut away gags but I don't think Homer has ever once cheated on Marge where as she's never cheated on him but definitely thought about it a bunch of times, Bowler guy was just the first of many "maybe I should cheat on Homer" subplots

Sure if you have a selective memory

Homer literally marries another woman in Vegas. He also kisses another man in bed and speculates that it was better than kissing Marge.

And Homer nearly cheats on marge with Mindy, who unlike Marge he wasn't pushed onto her because Marge was being boarderline abusive. She was just there and hot so Homer nearly fucked her.

I mean they're cartoon characters but you seem to trying hard to act like Marge is some kind of Harlot when repeatedly in the Simpsons they argue but always stay together.

I binged the entire series when Disney + dropped. At its worst, it's just really mediocre. There's rarely anything terrible in it, it just very much becomes a "leave it in the background" kind of show.

Although the quality actually did get better in the last 5 years.

This. Its nowhere near as bad as its made out to be. I hate how much of a thing it became to say current Simpsons is so bad! Its obviously not as good as the first eight seasons, but its still completely watchable.

I also think its funny how the last good season keeps moving up too used to be 8 is the last good season! then its only good up until season 10 then the show is only good up until season 13. I think were up to 15 or 16 now

I remember watching it when that came out. There were some good jokes in that one, but then the ending soured me on it because I fully expected the dude to be an imposter. But he wasn't. And then the one where they went to Japan barely made me crack a smile. And then it started happening more.

I watched for probably another few seasons before I just tapered off.

I don't think it's about whether the episode's funny or not, more about Skinner's characterisation being tainted for the sake of filling an episode.
