People need to accept the fact that the days of the Virtual Console as we knew it are over.

The VC had so much stuff because only Nintendo was the one who actually cared about getting those old games back out, so they had no problem securing the rights to Capcom games, Konami games, Square-Enix games, etc.

Now that all the companies have realized there's a market for old games redone on modern systems, every publisher is hoarding their own big titles and franchises to release in collections or whatever at their own discretion.

So NSO will mostly be having Nintendo titles and titles from companies that are so defunct they don't care about repackaging them again, like Data East.

So I wouldn't expect Chrono Trigger on NSO like ever. S-E will re-release that at the appropriate time, of course, just like they did Chrono Cross.

As for Super Mario RPG, it's in a constantly weird state of two very picky owners.

Probably when Sakurai adds Geno to Smash.

Geno WAS added to Smash, though. (Just not in the way anyone was hoping for, but that already puts it at a level above the level of SMRPG's availability on VC.)

What I wanted from the Switch online NES/SNES stuff is wayyyyy past what the service they actually offer is.

I'm glad I found the handheld emulator scene so I can play backup versions of my games.

Played it recently, but they need to stop making us wait so damned long. No remaster and no remake in the works so we should have gotten it by now.
