Felt like we all got scammed again honestly.

EDIT: Not saying it wasn't real, I got it myself, and was vaccine boosted. I think it was just a huge knee jerk reaction, especially when we never had a similar reaction to other outbreaks. All this I say in hindsight.

No.

Many are vaccinated and boosted. It's not as dangerous as it was in 2020. Despite the hysteria types acting like we are still living through 2020.

Probability of getting covid is significantly lowered if you are vaccinated and boosted. If vaxxed and boosted, the probability of dying is even lower from covid.

The people mostly still dying from this are unvaccinated, unboosted, and have existing health problems.

Not for covid alone, but I remember back in Nov-Dec there were a number of news stories of hospitals being over capacity due to flu/covid/upper respiratory infections.

This, pretty much. Pretending it's still a omnipresent high risk in 2023 because it was in 2020 is not much different from pretending it didn't exist in 2020 because it didn't exist in 2018.

I can agree to that, easily. I wish some people were more polite when they want to disagree, but I guess it's too much to expect from GameFAQs rats. But thank you. I see.

Not trying to argue? You said we didn't have this reaction before and he explained to you why. You're positioning it as if something like this has happened before and there was no horrible effect from it, when in fact whenever we as a human species have had a massive outbreak, it kills large swaths of people. You can see why the reaction was what it was considering the death toll and the over capacity hospitals and all the other things that fell to the wayside because of hospitals being unable to handle regular duties with so many sick people.

But now we have vaccines and boosters. Everyone should do what they can to lower the spread. And if you're immunocompromised, you have a bit more work to do to stay safe.

right. people forget shit like THE ENTIRE PLOT OF V FOR VENDETTA is based around a flu that kills.....wait for it...80,000 ppl and the government covers it up. that was considered enough be a plausible reason for outrage back in 2005

you are just desensitized to death, don't care, don't understand the scale, etc.

I know of several people who have caught it over the last few months, the current strain wasn't as bad as the original. Most said they were only really sick a couple days, they most said it was like a cold.

As diseases evolve, they most often tend to become less deadly.
Cause viruses have really no interest in killing its host. They just want to spread as much as possible, and you can't do that if the target does before passing it on.

So it makes sense that the death count drops

People are still catching it, so there probably was, just not reported.

Most people just test themselves nowadays if at all. We would only really know the correct number of hospitalizations.
