Does CE want kids one day?

https://www.justjared.com/2023/03/10/seth-rogan-says-not-having-kids-has-really-helped-him-be-successful/

Seth Rogan is very content not having kids.

The 40-year-old writer and actor said that the decision with his wife Lauren Miller not to have children has been key to their success and happiness.

That has helped me succeed as well, definitely, Seth said of not having kids. Theres a whole huge thing Im not doing which is raising children.

Seth rejected the notion that his life would be happier with kids. I dont think it would. Ive been around obviously a lot of children Im not Im not ignorant to what its like, he said.

Some people want kids. Some people dont want kids, Seth told The Diary of a CEO podcast. I think a lot of people have kids before they even think about it honestly.

You just are told, you go through life, you get married, you have kids. Thats what happens, Seth said of the cultural norms. And me and my wife, neither of us were like that. Honestly, the older we get, the more happy and reaffirmed we are with our choice to not have kids.

Even as someone that has kids, I see no issue with this.

I have a friend the same age as me (45) that's been married just as long (19 years) and they have no kids.

Whenever anyone asks why they never had kids, his response was "We like going on the kind of vacations that don't involved costumed characters or roller coasters".

I respect that.

Those that dont that do have kids probably didnt plan to.

I imagine being old and having no kids must suck. Your generation is going to die away and eventually you will be the only one left in your friend group

He may have nieces or nephews but he has siblings to thank for that. So overall I disagree with his view.

Yep I am the same age as Seth and have no kids. And it doesn't bother me. And whenever I hear about my friends talking about their kids, it just makes me more thankful I don't have them.

A lot of them are jealous of the life I have.

Befriend other people? Enjoy your partner's company? Talk to relatives. It really doesn't require children.

Besides, not everyone wants to have others around.

i've had well meaning close friends of my wife and i, who have been friends with us since day 1 of us being together since 2008, be confirmed multiple times that we're not having kids over the course of our relationship, ask us if we were sure a couple years ago. i've had someone tell me i was weird because i wasn't sure if i wanted kids.

it's like some people just malfunction at the thought of other people not having kids.

The original point someone made was by the time its their turn to go, you may very well be the only one left. Eventually everyone around you your own age is gonna die

Seems like a reasonable viewoint, saying this as someone with a 2 month old of my own. It's something both me and my wife talked about and both wanted.

People shouldn't be shaming others for not wanting kids, and same goes for vice versa.

Other than for a brief few year where I wanted to be a Major League Baseball umpire, all I ever wanted to be when I grew up was a dad.

I was always really good with kids. People have told me I missed my calling as an Elementary School teacher.

But I 100% understand people that love the freedom of being an adult without the responsibility of children dragging them down. And, if I'm being completely honest, I'm kind looking forward to seeing what life is like once it's just me and my wife again.

What are the percentage of those people without kids have a dog or something they treat like their kid?

I get the appeal of not having kids though and i think about the time me and my wife missed out just us but i cant imagine not having our son and our soon to be other son.
Going out and traveling is fun and everything, but having a child just feels like it gives you a whole other purpose in life.

I've been very middle-of-the-road about it and now that I'm approaching mid-30s I might just be like "ehh, screw it, no." Too many factors running against the idea.

Maybe the real kids are just the friends we make along the way.

If my life had gone differently, then its something I could have seen happening. But I think that window is closed.

I know Im only 35 and iTs NeVeR tOo LaTe but its not just the age. I am so far behind and Ill never catch up.

For one thing, I have no career path. Absolutely none. This is an issues going back as far as I can remember. Ive never been one to base my life on my job, so Ive never put that much stock into what I want to do. The big problem with that is that Ill never make real money. And it sucks because Im a great worker. Theres just nothing really out there for me that I would like to do and realistically be able to find.

For another thing, girls dont like me romantically. I personally dont think theres anything THAT wrong with me, but apparently there is (no ones bothered to tell me so I dont even know what needs working on lol) because romance has just never been a part of my life. What girl is going to want to some dude in his mid-30s who isnt some career-driven go getter who makes a ton of money?

Unless some absolute miracle happens, by the time I get my shit together Ill be in my 40s. Im not foolish enough to have a kid without my own self having it together.

yeah I've seen lots of people here say they'd never put their parents in a home and they'll just take care of them instead...unless you can afford to quit your job or hire a nurse then no, no you won't take care of them yourself.
