Personally, I think it seems short sighted to say that no wrong doing is occurring if it's not explicitly against the law, and that handwaiving atrocities because they're done through the process of law is how people found justification for treatment of African Americans during slavery and the Jim Crow era

The technical legality of the acts where they are taking place means nothing. Everything that the Nazis did was entirely legal within their country's legal framework pal. Doesn't mean they weren't abhorrent and criminal. That's why we had the Nuremberg trials, at which too many people were allowed to escape the noose.

Republicans are proud that everything is always on the ballot, except guns. Human rights are on the ballot. Free speech is on the ballot. But guns are a natural right that cannot never be infringed.

There are several things that genocide studies professors and experts have identified as things that hamper individuals and states attempts at genocide. All of them boil down to "consequences". Or at least fear of consequences Whether they are physical, economic, or social.

The people in power who want genocide and the extremists who carry it out rely on the consent or inaction of everyone else in society. They also work to get those people on their side by making the genocide beneficial to those people.

One of the things the Nazis did was give people who ratted out their neighbors for being gay, having Jewish descent unknown to the state, hiding Jews, or having questionable politics part of the property or money seized from those arrested. Which is what makes the civil bounty laws the GOP has been passing so chilling. It's literally right out of the Nazi playbook.

Prior to this the Nazi led state had pushed a public boycott of Jewish owned stores that had failed miserably. There wasn't a benefit for anyone who wasn't already a raging anti-semite. Once they started giving people tangible benefits for aiding in the oppression a good chunk of the populace hopped on board.

If you want to stop this kind of shit there has to be consequences for everyone involved. You have to make the perpetrators and their accomplices afraid to do it.

I really dont get why any nonwhite people support the GOP. Do they not realize once the GOP gets what they want, they will be the next to go?
