Games that make you play them multiple times is bull shit.

Some games allow you to play on the hardest difficulty and you unlock all the lower difficulty achievements.

But i remember Devil May Cry 5 makes you play each difficulty to unlock the next or something. Works out having you complete the game more than 5-7 times to get all trophies.

Fuck that.

Yes you have to reach a certain point in the game as a member of each House.

Thankfully it's not the full game.

I'm guessing the story *maybe* diverges there depending on what House you're in, but still.

It's actually the opposite. The part you have to play multiple times IS the divergent part. Each house gets a different quest to introduce the main plot. The achievements are for completing each of those quests. Once you've reached the main plot, every house behaves essentially identically.

Laughs in Dragon Age Origin. For plat, you need to complete the origin stories for

  1. Human Noble
  2. Dalish Elf
  3. City Elf
  4. Magi
  5. Dwarf Commoner
  6. Dwarf Noble.
Also, you need to complete the romance for all 4 options.

Yeah but at least the Origin stories are only like an hour and a half max. If you really don't care, you can speed through them in a half hour or so >_>

Also Romance is easy. Especially with the DLC. Just get the character specific gift and some of the cheap, generic bulk gifts and boom, EZ max affection. All you need to do is have a male and female character. Save, burn through the dialogue options, romance, boom done.

I had a female noble sleep with Alistair before i left camp for the first time lmao <_<

i'm okay with that.

100% run. then run x3 up to a certain point for each of the other houses.

though i'm not going to get the game until it drops to rock bottom price (10$ preferably) or 15$ if i really want it.

I never understood why people care about trophies and achievements. Seems like unnecessary stress worrying about dumb shit like killing 50 bats with fire arrows or whatever.

If the devs gave us actual rewards for achievements then ok, I get it. Special weapons, extra missions, etc. But you get nothing.

Some achievements are actually worth going out of the way for. Like completing X side quest (line) that you might not have much interest in but since its part of, like, the last 100 gamerscore, you'd be more willing just for completions sake.

Giving achievements for natural progression is lame though.

ME2 having achievements for doing the final mission perfectly is actually achievement worthy.

I mean if an achievement makes the game more enjoyable or interesting, that's cool. But if it's doing mundane, unnecessary, tedious shit just to reach that 100% it's stupid. That describes most of them.

That's why I mentioned Mass Effect 1.

Get the achievement for killing X dude's with an assault rifle?

Next time you make a character they can use it.

Get the one for having Ashley in the party?

Weapon damage boost.

Eh, some I've come across actually made me use skills I wouldn't have otherwise and opened up looks into the gameplay that I would have just glossed over.

Like in DA:O, there are Achievements for using the Dual-Wield talents Punisher and Whirwind and killing 50 enemies each with them. The traditional use of dual-wield is more flanker/non-aggro so the best way to utilize Whirlwind is to actually get in the middle of the fight. Whereas Punisher does 2 normal hits and a crit on 3rd hit if it connects as well as lowering attack and defense by 10 for the target, making it harder for the enemy to damage your party and easier for your party to hit.

The game is already fairly easy and you don't need to invest the talent points to unlock those abilities as you have talents that crowd control already and deal decent damage. Forcing you to use implement these into your individual gameplay loop for the sake of an achievement gets the player to experiment with the various talents instead of just going with what works (both Talents are mid-late game unlocks, locked behind Attribute levels, Specific skill level)

Additionally, there are achievements in Origins that force you to invest your Talent Points into maxing a specific skill tree and in the case of Mages into one style/study of magic. This forces you into specific character styles and gives you deeper looks into the gameplay mechanics and can introduce you to spell combos or support options that you would have scoffed at just from the descriptors ( at least when compared to other options like being able to shoot AoE Fireballs)

All of those sound like mundane and tedious investments but they serve to make you actually look into what the developers intended with the various game elements instead of just going with what works.

I will agree though that Achievement for like killing 1000 Stormtroopers is kind of lame. Especially if you're going to organically hit that number anyways. Even DA:O had those kinds of Achievements. Which would have made more sense if there was a lot of diplomatic options to avoid fights but you're going to kill 250 enemies before you're done with like the 3rd major plot point.

Yeah. I just recently started playing Cyberpunk. Took a brief look at the trophy list, and if I wanted them all in a single playthrough, I'd be looking at a guide the whole way and likely getting lost as to what is going on in the story.

Instead, I'll look at my trophy list at a later date and see what is close to a plat and how much effort it would take. Hardest difficulty, don't get hit, don't die, are a hard pass from me. Others might be just finding some collectables or a different ending, no problem. Which is why the time to platinum for some of my games are crazy, like DA:O at 6 years, or Prince of Persia at 5.
