The original 2 is my favorite and the kiwami version is just worse. It kind of sucks it's getting the treatment Sonic Adventure 1 has where a bad port is the only way people know it. That being said the PSP games are both cooler than 2 but no one cares about those and there's no way they'll get localized with the western Yakuza fanbase being so sensitive about certain things.

Judgement needs to be way higher.

Yakuza 4 feels a bit uneven at times but how is Yakuza Kiwami better than it? Also I really did like Judgment a lot. Not sure where I'd rank it among all the Yakuza games though but it does feel low.

Also, I recognize 0 as being a really good game I need to finish. But I felt slightly underwhelmed by going back instead of forward. I was givin so much build up just to start over the story. Which made me care way more when playing 6 than 0. Because 6 had all the weight and depth of the earlier games on it.

I think I just don't care to go back in story as much as others do. Which is strictly preference. Just not my jam. I do plan on giving it another go. But I also have both Judgements to play now.

Zero just somehow became the last one I played, a friend had 4 randomly and then just sold it to me so I started there plus I was watching a different friend play Zero and all these people were talking about it so I figured I was somewhat spoiled on the game anyways. Then I stopped seeing that friend so I saw Yakuza on sale on the PSN for 5 dollars so I was just all I might as well play it for myself two years ago now. There were still some surprises in the game for me. I've been on the last final rush of the game for months now for some reason. I should just finish it.

Honestly if you never played the Judgments Lost_All Senses I'd give them a go. You do have to play the first Judgment first you'll just appreciate the characters more in the second game. Plus I think it is a fine game anyway,

Word. When I said, I got them now, I was being literal :3. I bought them in January. It's just that I also bought like 10 other games lol. It's just a matter of finding the mood for it.

I've only played Like a Dragon but I liked it a lot.

I'll be playing 0 and Ishin! soon.

I just spent 60 some dollars on the Atelier Dusk DX trilogy lol because a topic here inspired me and then another topic said it was on sale, for this weekend only. I have to play Ishin someday but it just seems like such an odd side story game. I never got myself too hyped for it. Maybe the first sale on it, I'll jump on it or find it used somewhere though.

Like a Dragon was awesome. Oh yeah and Yakuza 3 the combat somehow felt the worst, but it still had its moments overall. I loved fighting in the fish market there were just some really cool places like that. I also recently re-watched the opening hype video for 3 and it's awesome! Better than I remembered.

I was moving screenshots from my PS4 to my laptop and then I was looking at my screenshots for Yakuza 3 and I actually did have a better time than I membered. Sure playing hide and seek wasn't very fun (but I got it in the context of the story) but then there were moments like this:

Plus there was the quest with the six scoops of ice cream in a cone you had to deliver to a family. Just funny.

Ranking Lost Judgment higher than Judgment is top tier lulz material. Same for 5 and 6 above Kiwami.

I'd drop Yakuza 5 a lot father down the list. There's way too much filler material in that one that is done poorly but also necessary to advance the main story. The game really drags.

I like 5 a lot. I have no interest in driving properly as a taxi driver, dunno if that is required for 100 percent but the ones were you just get random rides who want your opinion is great. Also Yakuza 5 made me really like Saejima he was w/e in 4 mostly. Plus the idol stuff with Haruka not really something I want to do all of either but I liked the story plus Akiyama was involved on it too. That guy rules.

Yakuza 5 still way too up there on a list despite being bloated, having a terrible antagonist and sometimes weirdly looking washed out and kind of ... worse than Yakuza 3 graphically?

i liked LJ a lot. best brawler combat in the series and i loved the school sidequests. i put J above it, but not by much.

Judgment is waaaay too low. That game was top tier for me. And while I loved the huge variety of minigames in Lost Judgment, it's story was nowhere near as good as the first game. I can't understand rating it higher.

Lost Judgment is a better game but Judgment feels more unique the tailing missions did get tedious but wow they really cut down on those in the sequel. I just felt more like a detective in the first game. The school stories were cool though.

Kiwami 1 is ranked way too high. It"s easily the weakest Yakuza game from what I've played so far

They're all asset reuse heavy. Yakuza 5 always gets lauded as the best among Y3-Y5, but it's just... the narrative was kinda meh, I kind of preferred the story and characters from 3 and 4 over anything in 5, preferred the lack of bloat, the music from 3 and 4, Tanimura was way more fun than bum ass Shinada. Legitimately the only thing that has me going "Okay you got me there" are the Red Heat Mode techniques (for like just Akiyama and Kiryu specifically, but still). The drag racing thing was okay, but not really enough to elevate the game.

Kiwanis 1 did kinda suck and that's not even considering how different it was from the source material. Also Majima everywhere blew plus those fights were always so difficult.

Kiwami 2 I did like a lot. I didn't even watch the video but meh I dunno it can just be hard to rank just the Yakuza series. Dead Souls is the worst if it counts but Yakuza Kiwami is down there too.

Tanimura was way more fun than bum ass Shinada.

Tanimura had a really good story, but in 5 I found Shinada real fun to play I guess I like the bruising style that isn't as slow as Saejima plus his story was intriguing. The first time I skipped the batting side story mostly because it was optional and I had to see why and how he got banned from baseball.

Yakuza 4 is my least favorite Kiryu game despite introducing us to Akiyama and Saejima.

Judgment and Lost Judgment are ranked too low on the list.

kiwami 1 made me quit the series for a while. feels like i spent most of my gameplay time in falling/get back up animations. the boss near the end with the 3-4 gunmen is probably my least favorite boss fight of all time lol.

Yep. This list is pretty poop but I agree with kiwami 2 being near the top if not the top

I'd put either Judgment over Yakuza 6 and Kiwami 1 belongs near the bottom otherwise the list isn't egregious. Y6 was fun, but also got way too out there with the side stories and it felt short too. Plus the baby section. Gotta get some milk for the baby oh the baby is acting up good thing there is that easy mode to calm the baby down.

It does suck that people go from Yakuza 0, one of the best in the series, right to Kiwami 1, one of the worst in the series lol. They need to know that it does some bullshit stuff but the series gets great again

Funny enough Yakuza 3 is where I started, so I'll always have a lot of nostalgia for that one and 4, which I played immediately afterward.

I think 0 is unquestionably the best of the series though. Such a fantastic game.

I feel sorry for the people who went from Kiwami 2 to 3 and walked away from 3 thinking the combat sucked when it factually had two of the best boss fights in the entire franchise.

I still gotta get around to trying the PS2 games at some point.

Joji and Mine, yeah. I loved how their fighting styles evolved throughout the fight in a way that really keeps you on your toes. Joji goes from cautiously controlling the flow of the fight to aggressive, and Mine has several different phases with a variety of moves to use against you, and the cheeky fucker even heals himself just to let you know he's not gonna go down as easily as the scrubs that came before him. And of course, both fights had really awesome music.

I don't rank them individually. I put them in one of three buckets.

Exemplary: 0, 7
Great: Everything else
Good Enough: Kiwami, Dead Souls, 6

Asking me to carve up rankings between, say, 4 and 5 is a pain I don't need in my life.

toss J and LJ either in the Y2 tier or the Y4 tier, those are both super solid games.

Im one of the "rare" fans who likes Dead Souls even though I wouldn't count it, so I'd put it with Y5.

None of the yakuza games are anything near considering BAD, so even though Y3 is so low it's still one of my favorite games overall.

I've only played 0-4, and 7. But here's my ranking:

0 > 7 > K2 > 4 > 3 > K1

Yeah but those minigames take up significant amount of time and story. Taxi driving, racing, hunting, and all the idol crap.

And even if you get past those, the story in 5 is incredibly weak. The final boss is the lamest in the series, by far.

Let's see, since I beat Judgment and Y0 - Y6 with 50 hours in Y7 and 20 or so in Lost Judgment I think I shall rank them myself.

YK2 > Y0 > Judgment > Y7 > Y6 > Lost Judgment > Y3 > Y4 > Y5 > YK1

Fist of the North Star is somewhere between 3 and 4 probably. Gameplay is fun, but having to replay the story to max out the stats is stupid as shit.

People keep saying Fist of the North Star I remember hearing about that in the NES era but I never looked more into this. I don't get how this relates to Yakuza/LAD. Wasn't it some anime?

I think the final fight in Y5 wasn't really special but the ending was good. Can somebody also make a video saying how much different Yakuza 2 was from Kiwami 2. All I really know is that some small location was not recreated in Kiwami 2, but I think it's great K2. I can certainly see how some people prefer Yakuza 1 og over Kiwami.

There also is a mod that removes all the obsessive swearing lmao those fuckers in the original game didn't know when to stop.

People are referring to Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise, which was developed by RGG Studio and features RGG voice actors among its cast.
