They don't look similar at all. You might as well be suing anyone wearing red+blue of anything that vaguely looks like a skirt+scarf.

I thinl they should change it at least, its about IP and I think its also about cultural appropriation without involving Saami Counsil. They are a minority that have lots of bad history of being repressed and experimented on etc and they have the the right to own their culture. Im sure if SE would have worked with them (like Disney didnwith Frozen 2) it would have been better.

AINAL but it looks like something that would pass as a legally distinct knock-off in most situations. Curious to see if this goes anywhere because well, I am not a lawyer and have no idea lol

Copy infringement, the saami owns certain pattern and color combination etc with the clothes. Also while they say its bot about sensitivity I think its part of it as they take their culture serious, which they are totally right to imo.

All I know is what pictures you provided, and the pictures do not look similar at all. Pretty much all that matches is the primary colors used.

From what people have said before on other platforms, if this group had any ground to stand on to demand shit they'd be suing and not pulling some bullshit on twitter over it, apparently this group just threaten like that to anyone making anything vaguely similar to the saami attire until either they just ignore it or settle out of court because they just wont stop pestering people over it.

I mean if it's as close as this is to the actual saami stuff, it probably wouldn't matter.

Also, the real stuff looks way better than what's in game. I can see why they might be upset

They ripped off the inspiration behind it but it really doesnt look the same. Game one has kind of a American Southwest vibe to it. It looks really good.

There are reasons why Saami attire is IP, one is thst tourist traps cashed in on their culture for example.

It is triggering me so much more than it should that this "Far North" attire has exposed leg like it does.

White cotton/wool/? around the head IRL -- red headband that looks nothing like cotton or wool ingame
Scarf-like plaid around the neck IRL -- solid red around the neck and not really scarf-like at all ingame
Many stripes around the design IRL, particularly near the bottom of the "skirt" and around the hands -- no stripes ingame

If SE used different coloring other than red+blue for this, there's pretty much no way anyone would be trying to call it a ripoff of the other.

No they shouldn't remove it. And the whole cultural appropriation argument is incredibly stupid. Unless you're using their clothing/hair styles to make fun of them, it should be celebrated that another culture is wearing your attire.

Hell my culture does the same. And whenever you go to another community wearing their attire, sane people actually like it.

I did mention I think it is a bit, but Im not that harsh about it, Its just know and understand their history and why its important and could get if its sensitove even if they claim its not about that. My main gripe is about the IP yes.
