Ohio woman who prominently advocated for pit bulls on social media was killed in her own backyard by one of the family's two pit bulls. She had the dog on a leash and was going out for a walk when the pit bull snapped and attacked. Neighbour who went out for a smoke saw her lying face down in the yard. The incident is being investigated as a non-criminal death.

A 58-year-old mother had one of her daughters dogs on a leash as she was going out their homes back door. But as the mom did so, the dog named Amina pulled her down and began to attack, as seen in video footage obtained by an Ohio police department.

One of her neighbors had been smoking a cigarette near his second-story window when he saw her body in the yard as a dog ran around her, according to the incident report. He called Varnes friend and daughter to see if anyone was home, then he called 911 and went over to Varnes home.

Arriving officers found Varnes face down in her homes backyard, which she shares with her daughter, authorities said. The woman was rushed to The University of Toledo Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 6:30 p.m.

Bonnie worked for WLS for over 30 years and was a deeply loved, valued member of our transportation team, the district said in a statement to the TV station. We are (devastated) by this loss.

A Lucas County dog warden has taken Amina into custody, police said. Obviously the family can choose to euthanize the dog. Or, if they dont, we would deem the dog dangerous more than likely thats usually what happens and then its up to the courts to decide the outcome, Cassie Bloomfield with the Lucas County Canine Care and Control told WTVG.

I think I've posted the self-identified far right comics four or five times in these threads where they openly just say "Yeah some dog breeds are inferior, like humans." Literally had a now banned user tell me black people weren't the same "breed" as white people. They just get ignored because either the people doing it know what they are doing, or they think it's a stretch to compare things when self-identified fascists do it in their popular webcomics.

All breeds can snap, but no breeds are equal in their potential for destructiveness. Chihuauas might be able to puncture the skin, labs might require several stitches, but pit bulls require reconstructive surgery.

While I understand where you are coming from, and it is entirely a well-intentioned place, I disagree.

Certain breeds of dogs have been quite deliberately selectively bred over hundreds of years for specific traits. Namely, the ability to do damage, take damage and aggression. Trying to draw any sorts of parallels between dog breeds and people is absolutely abhorrent, no arguments whatsoever there. Acknowledging that dog breeds were selectively bred for certain traits this is not rooted in racism, its being a realist. Someone might try to co-opt that argument and use it in racist rhetoric, but that just means theyre a shitty human being and an idiot. It doesnt stop the fact that some dogs were bred for bloodsports, and are dangerous when kept as family pets.
