Third bad season in a row, that's more like whatever. 5th bad season in a row, you are just numb. The game is something you have on for background noise, watch parties are an excuse to socialize. Same with actually going to the games. At that point it's fun again. Honestly, being a fan of a consistently bad team is easy. I went to three Royals games this year and had a blast at all of them. There was no pressure. No suspense. We all expected them to lose. We just hung out and had a chill time. Compare that to like every other Chiefs watch party this season. They were stressful. People were nervous. They were not chill. But of course the highs of a great team doing well are so high that it's absolutely worth it. No the real pain is the consistently mediocre team. That team that can range from bad to good, season to season. Sometimes they make the playoffs. Sometimes they look like they have a shot but they never really do. Here is where you get the nerves and stress of having games with actual stakes but none of the highs of truly being great.
