Plain people, plain cuisine, cold.

if i ever want a house its probably my only option

Lol at plain cuisine. We obviously dont have hotspots, but you can find good food at specific cities. Just like any other region.

Imagine living anywhere else and having to spend all your money just on a place to live.

Imagine saying the land of the breaded pork tenderloin is plain cuisine. We've got a lot of swine around here but they're all more cultured than you!

I live in Ohio and all we do here is grow corn, make meth, and vote Republican

I had the same internal debate, but my quality of life would go straight down if I moved there. I flat out dont fit in in places like that. If I ever move to another state, its basically going to be California (I think its the only warm state that doesnt persecute marijuana users Arizona flip flops, so I dont trust them)

There's also Nevada, although it gets a lot hotter here than California. There's a dispensary on what feels like every other block.

Thats where I am right now. Great place, but sometimes you get winter for nine months and I sort of want to recharge somewhere warm for a while (I grew up in the south, so the cold weather takes it out of me).

Fort Collins is VERY expensive now. To buy a dilapidated home built in the 1970s, youre going to pay $500-$600k. Something more structurally sound, but still modest, will cost closer to $700k+. These Chinese real estate companies are bidding over asking price and buying everything thats not nailed down.

These days, renting a lower end house is going to be $2,000/month, no negotiation. Im seeing all sorts of listings for modest sized homes renting for $3,500+ per month. Some are over $5,000. Granted, you can get starting pay of $18/hr at Walmart, but Ive tried it and its not enough to scrape by in FC. Not without having like four roommates and all of their guests buzzing around your house. Apartments youre going to be lucky to find a studio apartment for under $1,200.

The FC property management companies are very strict about who they rent to and you have to offer proof that you make like 3x the monthly rental price. FC is supposed to be a college town, but theres no housing for college students now because they cant pass these financial background checks without having their parents vouch for them. I am currently looking in Loveland, which is a nice place.

Detroit has square pizza and chili dogs what do you mean plain food

The entire country is shit. Last thing I want is nothing to distract me from it.

California bubble is all hype tbh.

Midwest people are a lot more friendly and at least I can afford a decent QoL. Only real drawback is diversity in food.
