I had a nature video on the other day of two eagles in a nest guarding an egg. The two cats and the dog were both very interested in watching the video, and anytime the birds made any kind of loud bird sounds, all the animals would lose their shit. If they look at the TV, they see pretty much the same thing we see. So yeah, if there's a very clear image of a dog or cat on screen, they can definitely recognize it. To them it's probably the same as looking in the mirror and seeing "another dog" --- I write Naruto Fanfiction. But I am definitely not a furry. ... Copied to Clipboard!
