Depends on the game and what character options it's offering.

Healing and dual-wielding are my go-to for most fantasy. Generally lighter weapons to prioritize speed of attack over impact. I prioritize dodge over block if they're options.

Polarms are my go to favorite weapons.
Halberds, poleaxes, glaives, spears, lances.
After that I prefer hard hitting two hand weapons, swords > axes > hammers.

Depends on the game and what party members I have to work with. I don't mind being a either tank/support Paladin or a 2-handed heavy hitter as long as I have someone else who I like to fill the other role. Not a big fan of ranged in general unless it's some kind of hybrid thing, like the Cipher in Pillars of Eternity.
