I read the article. I understand the authors viewpoint and how Rowling has increasingly made every effort to alienate and hate the trans community.
Much of the authors criticisms however just didn't have any backing (in the writing) or explanation, and more or less came down to "it felt wrong but I can't put it into words."
The entire piece comes off as unprofessional and poorly written.
I do understand that she is trans, and very emotional about this game. I think posting an opinion piece is fine, but framing it as a legitimate review of the game feels off.

Theres a hole where this games heart should be. You cant see it at first. You have to really feel around its edges, stop looking for what is there and start noticing what isnt. Theres no sense of place. The world is lifeless. Character models and facial animations are present but somehow absent. The characters are animated, but they certainly dont feel alive.

I can understand people being upset about the game, but a reviewer has a job to do. He didn't do it.

Just an FYI the author's bio uses "she". That being said I agree the author didn't do what she was supposed to do. I got more of a personal history of her issues with Rowling, and a couple lines about th3 game. Then we got an interesting section about how LBGT+ folks are the most creative people.... which kinda plays into stereotypes?

Are people allowed to consider context in reviewing media?

Iunno why IGN gets singled out for the review when basically every independent YTer who reviewed the game said similar things about it and scored it along the same lines.

Ive been saying this all week about the game. People are focusing on the wrong things. Why not give resources to find more groups that you can donate to to support Trans rights? Why not give a list of politicians that support LBGTQ+ and push towards getting them into office? Instead people just bitch about a game and are doing things like posting spoilers without warning and attacking anyone who buys it.
