I think it should be a small fine -- like $20 every time you get caught. A lot of people do it because it's illegal. I don't want casual users moving on to crystal meth simply because they're trying to be rebellious.

Blumenauer and Joyce both say they plan to push for childproof packaging and rules to standardize dosing.
Consumers need to be able to know how much THC is in the products they are consuming, as opposed to the unregulated market we are currently facing which makes it nearly impossible to know, Blumenauer said.

Sounds about right? Kids shouldn't be taking the stuff anyway and dumb parents should be more careful about storing edibles.

It says pot is making people sick, but is basically just saying rates of children going to the hospital for eating an edible are increasing.

It shouldn't be illegal at all.

Quite frankly the more legalized it is, the more control you actually have over it.

I dont see anything about that besides maybe an increase in asthma. All the other problems exist with any drug or alcohol thats legal, people need to be responsible parents.

I could see them banning the candy edibles though like they did with flavored vapes in some places

I got too fucked up once because I ate half an edible bar and got the munchies and absentmindedly ate the second half that was still sitting there

This.

Also, pushing to regulate, including rigorous testing and labeling is only a good thing.

This topic is such a "the sky is falling" topic.

I'm pretty sure every state that has it legalized requires the THC% to be listed on the packaging.

yeah that's because people are dumb and leaving edibles near treats and kids get into them not knowing what they are. That's user error, not the fault of the product.

Should we make booze illegal again since kids can sneak into their parents' liquor cabinet?

It doesn't make people sick. The unpleasant feeling of taking too much will pass wether you go to the hospital or not.

That's just a rite of passage for people with no sense. Like you think you're dying but you're just paranoid from the weed and not used to the feeling.

Obligatory this 911 call post

https://youtu.be/V1kTZRcKZ6Y

But I think the article is more about young kids getting into it not knowing what it was cause parents are idiots.

Or maybe not I didn't read it.

Also, I had one of those quirky hangovers from drinking too much. Those things are so quirky.

Inhale enough smoke and that'll happen to most people. Doesn't matter what kind of smoke.
Edibles do not cause it.

This is why I'm glad I don't have to purchase alcohol from "illegal alcohol dealers" because I know that when I go to the liquor store, the booze I buy won't have fentanyl in it. Seems like that's better than bringing back prohibition.

edit: nvm I think based on post 31 that maybe we're on the same side here lol

So really, places making weed hard to access in a safe way are creating unnecessary risk for people. Id love to see the statistics for people spiked in states with open to public weed dispensaries and one's without. But it also seems like statistics people would just manipulate to push their agenda for whatever side their on. Kind of hard to trust any of that shit.

It's also probably more of that than not.

Some shit I hear these days, I immediately think "This was gonna be a claim at some point by someone regardless of how true or false it is". We live in a world where information and "information" is used strategically and it fucks up the ability to trust most, if not all sources. It was probably always loke that for the most part, but now we see it called out constantly.

I moved to a legal state from football country and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. There IS no intelligent argument why marijuana should be anything but legal. The anti marijuana laws were specifically put in place to target African American people, and surprise surprise, its the Deep South that prioritizes marijuana arrests over anything else. The freaking cowards openly tell you they go after it because they feel like they wont get their heads blown off. If you dont have the balls to go after real criminals, then turn in your badge and go deliver packages.

Look at legal states and the tax dollars they rake in. All that money no longer goes to a street dealer. The same street dealer who offered you cocaine and OC. That doesnt happen at legal dispensaries. Its 100% not a gateway drug when its legalized and sold in a strict environment. So we can either make people happy and collect tax dollars or we can make everyone miserable and let drug dealers pressure our kids into trying crystal meth.

I'd imagine inhaling any kind of smoke could cause emphysema. But that can be negated because it can be vaped, eaten, applied topically, etc.
