Jiraiya must be like, the worst fucking teacher in the series lmao.

Sasuke went from like, Chunin level at the Valley of the End to Kage level able to solo Naruto's entire team (well, minus Kakashi, but I'm pretty sure if Kakashi was there he'd get folded too anyways), and able to comfortably take on several Akatsuki members.

Sakura went from probably the weakest Genin to being a Tsunade clone and put in a ton of work vs Sasori.

Naruto... got a bigger Rasengan and... that's it. About the only other thing we're shown he worked on during the time skip was how to break Genjutsus if he ever encountered Itachi again, and when he actually does he couldn't even break his anyways lmao.

Imagine if he was taught Sage Mode in those 3 years instead, dude would've steamrolled everyone up to Pain.

False. Without those 3 years, he would never have been able to handle his power later on. During that time, he learned better chakra control and that would be very integral to his later move sets.

It sucks because he was supposed to have learned more of the basics and how to better control his chakra but there really wasn't much to it. On the other hand, Luffy learned haki and made gear 4.

Only if you think End of Part 1 Sasuke could've given Deidara the hands. I don't even think that Sasuke can take on Part 1 Kakashi as the series made it pretty clear if Kakashi actually made it in time to Sasuke and Naruto's fight he could've stopped it.

Yeah it's stupid AF. They had to give him the Sage mode power up to give him some uniqueness, but he should've just had a lot of the techniques at base instead of going from chunin to sanin in one big power creep.

The whole Pokmon Chakra system never made a lot of sense to begin with. Why does lightning beat earth? Why does wind beat lightning?

I remember thinking this after shippuuden

If anything it was the most realistic progression of time ever presented in a shonen. Characters got mildly better st a couple of things in 3 years.

Unlike ichigo, mastering a skill in 4 days that took every other character 100 years

Most of his growth had to do with controlling the raging beast inside him and using that power rather than losing control the second he tapped into it.

Also you don't wanna skip over MAJOR training moments about the literal protagonist. Other characters are not what the series is about.

Not sure what's so funny. Sasuke is shown blitzing Deidara multiple times when Kakashi couldn't, and I also don't even think Kakashi has an answer to Kirin. At the start of Shippuden Kakashi's Kamui sucks balls and gets him hospitalized after just a few uses.

Let's just say there's a reason Kakashi conveniently wasn't present for that scene. Kakashi gets slept on because of his frequent hospitalizations but he was a match for the likes of Deidara and Kakuzu early in Shippuden, and it's fairly strongly suggested that he could put up a solid fight vs. Itachi by then, too.

Sasuke wasn't ready for that yet, he needed MS.

It makes no sense how they only learned about this years after being in the field. This should have been stuff they learned about in school. What's the point of even having a ninja academy if you're not going to learn about an extremely fundamental part about chakra natures?

He learned a lot actually. You could see it in the test he and Sakura had against Kakashi, which was the point of the whole thing. The fact he was also able to back Kakashi up against Deidara and clone-Itachi also brings home that point.

Naruto mastered the basics, which is incredibly important to build on later. Yes, Sasuke improved a lot more, but it's really not fair to say Naruto made zero progress.

He learned how to think in battle.

Since when was Naruto a good student? The whole crux of the first part of the anime is about how he didn't even really pass his first initial class, or even technically become a Chunin.

The obvious answer to this is "kishi hadn't thought of it yet," but the non obvious answer is that Naruto just missed class that day.

I think they play it off as Naruto just wasn't paying attention in class. Like iirc, Sakura explicitly says like "don't you remember this from academy dummy?!"

But yeah, it was just a retcon in reality.

That seems like a whole ass unit he missed. Also, shouldn't they have done that chakra nature test in class too?

Retcon aside, that's just so weird to think about such a fundamental thing just not being covered in school.

Jirayia's like
"Hey I'm trying to teach this incompetent kid a jutsu that's so hard that even the 4th hokage couldn't get it down, and that guy could teleport. Should I check to see if his nature is even compatible with this jutsu, or should I push him off a cliff instead?"

Kakashi's gotta be the goat teacher Naruto's ever had for coming up with his Shadow Clone spam training lol. Like, the biggest fucking cheat code training in the series and conveniently it's basically exclusive to Naruto since nobody else has the chakra to spam 100s of clones.

I think the idea is that the Rasengan can be infused with any nature, but it's obviously easier to do it with your natural type. Each type has different methods to train into it, which is why the test was needed when it came time to 'complete' the Rasengan.

Kakashi even said that he tried to finish the rasengan with lightning, but it was too complex for him, which is how he ended up with Raikiri instead. Naruto's nature didn't affect whether or not he could finish the Rasengan, just the training method which would lead him there. Hence the leaf cutting and waterfall training.
