Remember Gen X's formative years were in the 80s when the cultural zeitgeist was "not caring". They propped themselves up as the cynical and disaffected, but that kind of attitude is entirely unactionable and the housing market hadn't yet downturned so they eventually slotted right into American homeowner life. Speaking of Karens, when I was at Walmart getting my tire fixed I was sitting next to one waiting. She appeared to be gen x. She was balling someone out on the phone over some plan she was trying to cancel and went on for like 40 minutes being embarrassingly rude before the rep hung up on her. "What's your name? Michael? There are millions of Michaels. Michael what? What. Is. Your. Full. Name? What's your manager's name? Your boss. Who is it? Hello? Hello? Heeeellloooo?"
