Exactly this. Especially if they are rich and know that they will get good press from doing so. Rich bigots who decide to donate some of their money (not enough to break a sweat in their riches either) to do a good deed in a completely unrelated area to the one they're openly bigots about, does not absolve their bigot status and nobody with bigot status should be praised whatsoever.

Hitler probably did things that on their own would be considered "good" too. But look at the types of people who unironically defend and praise Hitler for the few "good" things he did. They're regarded as Nazis and for obvious reasons. Rowling is a terrible person and she doesn't deserve an ounce of praise unless she redacts her transphobic views and makes up for them, which I find unlikely.

Anyone that hurts anyone is a fucking scumbag. You don't get to hurt people constantly as long as you offset it with constantly helping other people. Only sociopaths would view the world like that.

J.K. Rowling is literally using her money and influence to aid governments in passing legislation to hurt and destroy trans people. She's not much of a humanitarian towards them.

I'm sure modern Republicans think I'm a great person since I work selflessly at a local pharmacy and donate time and money to LGBTQ causes. I mean, I've never tried to fund the destruction of innocent people. Worst I've done is say mean things about a former President. No way they hold that against me given by good boy points.

It is a spectrum. JK Rowling is not as bad as Hitler, but she has done a lot of bad against certain people. Kindness towards the people she values doesn't really offset that.

Trans people are not seeing the good JK Rowling is bringing to the world when they know she views their very existence as a negative. They aren't welcome in her ideal world.

Basically yes. TERF's are so anti-man that they believe men are becoming women so they can sexually assault/rape them. I mean honestly most LGBTQ issues are tied to conservatives' idea of masculinity. Most anti-gay propaganda is specifically about men having sex with each other, most anti-trans stuff is about mtf transgender individuals. Sure if you ask them if the same applies the other direction they'll think about it and say "yeah that's bad too" but it's not what's at the forefront of their imagination.

Rowling's TERF ideology is firmly rooted in her distaste for men, specifically. She very strongly and openly believes that there is something fundamentally and intrinsically broken and imperfect about men, flaws that women don't share.

It's been there for years. The first time I ever "noticed" it was in a Harry Potter interview she gave some years ago. She was cornered with a question about why, despite both James and Lily dying, unarmed, to save Harry, it was only Lily's death that triggered Harry's magic protection. Rowling responded by saying that James stalling Voldemort unarmed was a "violent, animalistic instinct" while lily's death was "true love from a mother, which can never really be replicated." That was the first time I really noticed something "off" about her opinions.

Given that stance, everything else about her falls into place. She's against FTM trangendered people because they are casting aside something she views as pure/perfect in favor of something flawed and dirty. And on the MTF side, she views it as a near-sacred violation/intrusion into "true womanhood," "desecrating" it with a male presence.

Make no mistake. everything about her opinions begins and ends with her fundamental distaste for men. Any overlap between men and women is sacrilege, to her. It's all over her books, for anyone who cares to look (I can cite more examples if you like), and now it's all over her twitter, as well.

It's not her game. She had no involvement in the development of the game other than being her IP. Yes she most likely will collect royalty from it because she owns shares of the IP, but in the same vain everyone who purchased a ticket to Universal Studios to go to the new Super Mario World, well JK Rowling is still getting some of that royalty money per ticket sold (even if it's in the pennies.
