I forgot the actual chapter number but its after Serenoa becomes part of the saintly seven, and they are planning to retake the city

Is Benedict a god damn psycho? Flood the city? I thought he was supposed to be the voice of reason. Makes Rolands plan seem like a stroke of genius by comparison. What happened to Benedict being the old wise retainer, with decades of experience and always knowing the correct course of action?

Also do the votes actually have any meaning? It seems people are getting more and more rigid in what their ideals are and harder to sway. But all the votes are always evenly split with 1 person undecided who is easy to convince down your preferred route

Votes have a ton of meaning! There's actually some really interesting math behind how they work

I only did one full playthrough but personally, I never once had an issue getting the route I wanted.

The votes are meaningful. The characters are easier or harder to convince based on your current stance on average. They're definitely not fixed decisions as long as you choose the right way to convince them. Some votes are easy enough to convince that they'll listen to you regardless of your stance. But as you go, it's difficult to convince somebody to do something your Serenoa doesn't really believe in. Not super strict though, as some have said

And Benedict might seem a bit too ends justify the means kinda guy, but in hindsight, most of the time his strategy would've resulted in the cleanest resolution.

Wait, my Serenoa believes in things? Did not know >.> does his dialogue change as a result?

And with flooding the city specifically, it just seems like the worst option possible but maybe im thinking wrong. You have a huge enough army to kick them out. You have an explosive you can use to trap them in the castle and wait them out. The citizens seem happier with them in control because they have more freedom and have to donate less and stuff. So you come on and flood their city. They now have no homes, the land is useless for a while, and they (in their eyes) get their old leaders back who they didnt like as much. Seems pretty bad all around.

compared to a full frontal assault which does bring battle to the streets but does less damage to homes and land

or blowing up the bridge to negotiate even though they probably wont negotiate

or yolo through the tunnels to fight Avlora head on and probably die

all bad options (except the frontal assault and maybe bridge) but eh :/

On repeat playthroughs they show you how your decisions affect his Liberty, Morality, or Utility, and how much of each is required to hit certain decisions

The dialogue only changes if they agree or refuse I think? I dunno if they also have an on-the-fence type dialogue.

But yeah whenever the game tells you that something something changed (I forget), it usually means that your choice affected Serenoa's stance.

His stance on things also affect what characters you can recruit btw
