I havent owned an Xbox console since the 360, so I am not recently familiar with their products. But their controllers were always very good in my experience, and I assume that the standard Xbox One & Series X/S controllers are equally as good.

So what is so special about their Elite brand of controllers that makes them so much more expensive? Just curious.

I had one and honestly it's about as necessary as my 19 button mouse.

Nice to have but it really isn't necessary unless you play MMOs or similar games.

The controllers are more designed for the sweaties on CoD/Fortnite. If you're just a casual gamer, it really isn't much more than a big ol waste of money.

^Ok, but what exactly does it even offer over a regular controller to warrant such a gigantic leap in price?

The paddles on the underside are pretty damn useful.

Other than that, the build quality is really nice. It has some heft to it. I will say though that the left bumper on mine is giving me issues and I've been meaning to send it in.

For the series 1, the build of the controller is sturdier (they're certainly heavier by a solid pound or more), they have interchangeable sticks, 4 programmable paddles on the back, toggle switches to decrease the length you can press the Triggers, a button that stores profiles (at least 2) on the controller so you can swap what the paddles do for different games, and the D-pad was interchangeable in style

Huh. Every pic Ive ever seen of the controller was off the front. I had no idea about the paddles. Thats interesting.
