I feel like I always used to see articles about it, and how it meant something, but I always thought that seems strange. Ive never dreamt that

Those dreams have less to do with "losing teeth" and more about significant life changes you are secretly scared about, like buying a house or changing jobs.

A few years ago I had a dream where I went to the grocery store and there's an isle with human bones in it. I purchased some teeth, then ripped out my own and stuck the new ones in. It was a gross dream and I woke up frantically licking my teeth to make sure it was just a dream.

Only had that kind of dream once, although I rarely remember my dreams tbh. I recall hearing that they are stress dreams.

I've never had a dream about losing my teeth. I tend to dream about bears instead. Ursidae that is, not the large gay dudes. Bears are cool.

No they're not. Most dream analysis is bullshit.

What most teeth falling out type dreams are about is that you're probably grinding your teeth in your sleep, due to stress, tension, or some other trigger. And your brain reads the sensation and translates it into odd dreams.

A lot of dream triggers stem from completely ordinary things you're doing in your sleep without realizing it. And the rest mostly comes from things you've been encountering a lot or thinking about a lot during the day, as your brain is basically disk defragging itself.

This. I have recurring dreams. All it shows is what I feel. Good or bad. I've never had a dream about tooth loss though. I guess that's because the ship has already sailed so I don't fear it.

If it helps, I reccomend writing down your dreams. It makes it so you remember details and can recall them easier. I try to do it the moment I wake up from a dream or whenever it all comes back to me. If I were to wait before writing it down, I'd forget and the dream would be lost forever. I lost a whole lot of dreams that way, all that remains was the fact they were interesting.

You lose hundreds every night you never even realize you miss - you really only remember dreams you're still in the middle of when you wake up abruptly.

When you sleep and dream the long-term memory functions of your brain are turned off (in the same way your body sort of shuts down muscle control, which is why you get things like sleepwalking and sleep paralysis when it doesn't work quite right). When you wake up the long-term memory storage sort of starts to boot up again, but the dream you just had is only in your short-term memory at that point, and short-term memory only lasts for about 30 seconds before it clears.

If you write in a dream journal immediately when you wake up, or if you sort of start trying to remember everything that happened in your dream and kind of repeat it to yourself, what you're doing is shifting those details into your long-term storage so you can remember it later.

The irony is, no one ever really remembers a dream at all - it's literally impossible. What you're actually remembering is your attempt to remember the dream. You're remembering your own thoughts about the dream, not the dream itself.

The human brain is a crazy thing.

I keep having a reoccurring dream where I'm driving drunk and get pulled over and I get a DUI. I had one the other night that was incredibly real and convincing. When I woke up and realized it was that darn reoccurring dream again, I was SUPER relieved. Before I woke up, I was completely convinced that I was going to lose my license, go to jail, pay court fines, etcetera.

My most common dreams are meeting a girl, getting physical then right veggie we get to the real fun part something happens that ruins it. Examples: we'll be at a house party, start kissing, go to find a private room and she gets lost in the crowd on the way, or we'll be kissing on a bed/couch/whatever and then she'll just get up and walk out for no apparent reason. Losing said girl in a crowd of people while finding a place to do it is the most common by far.

It's sad to me that I can't even get laid in my dreams

There is, because we literally know how those aspects of the brain work.

It's possible that there's someone out there whose memory retention doesn't actually shut off properly while they sleep and they can literally remember their actual dreams while they happen (like the memory equivalent of sleepwalking), but if so they'd probably be utterly insane before they ever went through puberty. Because it would essentially be like living a thousand chaotic lives every night. You'd probably lose anything resembling a grasp on reality.

At least as you get older you stop having dreams about school. Like having to take a test that you didn't study for, or being naked in class, etc.

You don't. At least, not necessarily.

I'm 46 (almost), and I still occasionally have weird stress dreams where it turns out my degree doesn't actually count for some reason and I have to go back to school.
