The teenager who was fatally shot in the Palmdale area, was identified as 17-year-old Kristopher Baca, according to the Los Angeles County coroners office. The shooting was reported in the evening of Wednesday, Jan. 18, on the 38600 block of 11th Street East, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department. Deputies responded to a gunshots and found Baca suffering from gunshot wounds, sheriffs officials said. Baca was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident remains under investigation, and no further information was immediately released. Baca pleaded guilty to the the hit-and-run case last year and was a topic of conversation when according to Fox News, the Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon's office sought a five- to seven-month sentence in juvenile probation camp, a punishment for young offenders described as less severe than military school but harsher than summer camp. The surviving mother shared with Fox News, "The universe delivered the justice we werent given in court, but a much harsher punishment than hed have been dealt in a court of law," she said. The troubled teen was already on felony probation at the time of the hit-and-run as surveillance cameras captured the scary moment in 2021. The video clip shows a stolen vehicle speeding the wrong way down a one-way backstreet. It plowed into a woman walking her baby in a stroller. Then he hit the gas, accelerating away from the scene, where a good Samaritan in a pickup truck rammed the suspect vehicle head on. Los Angeles police responded and found drugs in the drivers system and marijuana in the car, according to an incident report obtained by Fox News. The suspect was 15at the time of the hit-and-run and asked the court for an early release from his light punishment. A judge denied the request, but he died before his 18th birthday. Think how you would feel being the father of a child who may be scarred for life. Some may want to show pity on the young man, others may not.
