I am legit out of the loop here, honest question.

it does seem odd because she seemed to be pretty woke? I mean fantastic beasts 1 and 2 were basically an allegory of MAGA taking over politics (with the muggles being the equivalent to minorities, there is even a mixed couple in the plot!).

not trying to raise controversy here, I just want to read more about the bad things shes done

She is a far leftist however she believes there is a distinction between biological women and trans women.

Well that gets to the question of gender segregation on the whole. Ask yourself do we need spaces that are gender segregated and if not then why this shelter, and if so, why exclude trans women from a women's shelter?

I dont know I think it may just be a case by case thing, where maybe some groups of people do need segregated space, like personally I dont mind the women gym thing, if women feel less judged and more comfortable in that space then good for them

She has historically been on the side of the left and the progressives but she has really dug a deep hole with respect to her views on trans people. I think there are a lot of leftists/liberals out there, especially older ones, that have a reasonable view on women's rights and gay rights but don't yet understand trans people, which is perfectly fine up until you decide to make that one issue the core of your political identity.

A lot of the concern trolls and bad faith actors like to point out how she is a true leftist but now she is constantly surrounding herself with very far-right people who are anti- everything she supposedly used to stand for before she took issue with the trans community.

If you're asking, I personally see the value in gender segregated spaces for our society as it stands now.

I would just note that far from being a "leftist on every issue except one" as is sometimes portrayed by her right wing defenders, Rowling was a vocal critic of Jeremy Corbyn during his leadership of the Labour Party. Her politics wouldn't look out of place alongside, I don't know, Hillary Clinton.

If you go back and look at Harry Potter with a critical eye (even the new game) it has some really problematic imagery and concepts.

well I don't understand every single issues no obviously, I doubt anybody does, I just think the vast majority of people lean right on some issues and left on some other issues so that labeling yourself in any sort of way is really just trying to fit in a group or a tribe

well I'm guessing a centrist would side with the left for exactly half the issues and with the right for the other half of the issues? so they demonstrate by acting in accordance to what they believe is right for each different issue, that's what makes most sense to me at least

(I said exactly half but maybe it could be 60/40 or 55/45 or something, doesnt matter too much)
