I hate going to the theater because of how you can't really leave if the movie is bad because someone else you went with might enjoy it and you paid good money for it. It kind of feels like a trap.

I also haven't watched a Shrek movie since Shrek 3, can't honestly remember if I watched it because maybe it was that bad.

Never seen a puss in Boots movie but this latest movie was great from beginning to end.

The villain was really memorable, this clip is what made me want to watch it:

(Minor spoilers)

The guy is so strong he can pick up Excalibur while it's still in the rock.

What? Thats the villain..? I thought the villain was some fox or wolf or something.

(I watched Chris Stuckman's review) and he really praised it too.
I'm not really a Shrek fan though

I took my nieces and nephew to see it this weekend. I enjoyed it. But more importantly, it kept the attention of an almost 3 year old and a 5 year old the entire time.

I thought it was pretty decent, but the way some people spoke of it made it seem like it was gonna be a masterpiece in every way. Kept my attention while watching though.

Second time I've seen a work of fiction use the "guy wields Excalibur while the sword was still in the stone", and I'll tell you it was just as amusing as when I first saw it in Aria of Sorrow.

Big Jack's fucking nothing compared to the wolf though, fucking fantastic. Went into this movie with my expectations right next to dinosaur bones because of how down the Shrek franchise went after 2, was very pleasantly surprised and got a solid movie, go watch it even if you have zero desire to see the first Puss movie from several years ago.

The animation is incredible, the Wolf is incredible, the writing is pretty good (almost got some tears out of me at the end), a great movie all around.

This movie was absolutely phenominal. I think Dreamworks second best film since Shrek 2 and definately my pick for animated movie of 2022 (Guillermo Del Torro's Pinocchio coming in a close second). I love the mature story that Puss had to go through, Perrito being a comic relief side character that isn't annoying and actually has a really sad backstory told in a funny way (I felt bad because I was the only one who chuckled in the theater when he told it), Kitty Softpaws and Godilocks and the Three bears had great character arcs that served its purpose. The two easily best characters though was the Wolf, for doing a really good job at being terrifying, and Jack Horner for reminding me what's like to have 1 dimensional villains that are just fucking hilarious. 9.5/10 film for me.

nah, Puss appeared in 3 and 4 as one of Shrek's best buddies. I guess after his death with Gingy they showed in this movie, he went to go do his usual hero thing.

It has a character from the 2011 puss in boots movie that has a history, but otherwise not at all ultra important plot wise.

Yeah my wife never watched any of the Shrek films or the Puss in Boots 1 movie and she enjoyed it. Probably the only character you'll mix some context would be Kitty Softpaws from the first film, but otherwise it's a movie that can stand on its own. Even the director said he was against calling it Puss in Boots 2 because it's technically it's own movie.

I don't blame ya, Dreamworks are doing stuff like spin off shows and short films that made me lost count as well. On Netflix alone there seems to be a bunch of Puss in Boots stuff on there.
