Been having some ingrown toenail issues on my big toes. Conveniently, I smashed one of my toes twice at work and a couple months later I lost the nail and it grew back perfectly.

Now I want to smash my other one but I pussy out every time I think about doing it.

Probably, I'd likely fuck up and break my toe but if I didn't, it would save a lot of money.

Op. For your sake.
Just go to the foot doctor. They will pull out the nail for you, you'll get some time off work so that way your foot can heal, you end up buying some salt and applying that salt in a tub of water... Dipping your feet for about 15 minutes three times a day for two weeks or so.

Depending on how bad your ingrown toenail is, it may or may not require surgery. That's why you shouldn't smash your toes as that could permanently alter your nail bed and forcing your nails to grow malformed or encourage your nails to consistently grow within the edges of the nail bed (reoccurring ingrown toenails).

I don't know, I have anecdotal evidence of it growing back perfectly after losing it. May have just gotten super lucky with the other nail.

Yeah, I'll probably just go see a doctor. Getting tired of digging it out myself every couple of months. I forgot about trying to salt bath it and pull it out though. Might try that first and shove a cotton ball under it, see if I can force it to grow normally.

The salt bath is mostly for the pus, assuming it got infected somewhere along the way. Apparently pus can harden or something like that. Not sure if pus is something that can cause the nail to attract fungi or if it messes with the nail growing process though... Wasn't really listening to my foot doctor when she was talking about that kinda stuff

Anyways... You definitely want to see the doctor for the the simple fact that you will get exempted from working which is a good thing. Feet injuries are no joke op, you want that sorted out ASAP. Happy feet = life made easier

I had an infected ingrown toenail one time. After work one day I took a clean toothpick and just shoved it under my nail from the side. It hurt like hell and a bunch of pus came out but it took care of it. This was years ago and I havent had any issues since

I did surgery on myself once. I told the appointment lady my toe was literally bleeding and she's like "earliest appointment is next week" so I said fuck it. Dug out a bottle of whiskey and a knife and just cut it out myself.
