tl;dr - They played the game in the Alamodome, and the 68,323 official attendance beats the old record by over 6000.

Here's a view from the stands. I heard they were only $10 tickets from there

Who are the people that enjoy going to a game like this and paying $10 to not see it or watch it on the screen?

NFL playoffs are today and the same thing will happen. These sports are so much better on TV if you actually want to watch the game.

NBA games are pretty much never like this. This was to mark the 50th anniversary of the team and set a record. $10 to be a part of history and have some fun. Plus there was a nice tour, photo ops and a bunch of other stuff. It was a fun event on a Friday night. Plus the energy at live events can't be matched at home.

Personally, I prefer to stay at home. But I have problems.

Didn't they have an all-star game in Cowboys stadium or something? Then all the players complained about how the open nature of the building made it more difficult for them to shoot. I would think something like that could have a huge impact on the Warriors a team best known for their insane shooting. Of course being actually good at shooting could lead to less of an impact by changing the nature of things. Those players complaining could have just not been that great at shooting to begin with.

No, it had an impact, but they adjusted. They talked about it before, during, and after the game. It screws up your depth perception as well. But they settled in pretty quickly.

I feel like with the NFL, you can follow what is going on at anytime, with the way that modern stadiums are built. Prior to the renovations at Soldier Field in the early 2000s, I went to a game that was in the 2nd to last row in an end zone. That stadium was built so the crowd sprawled outwards instead of upwards, and I actually needed binoculars to see what was going on. That sucked. But I dont think this is an issue anymore.

Also, the atmosphere of being at a playoff game when the home team is winning adds something extra that you wont get from being at home. The best sporting event I ever went to in my life was the Bears/Saints NFC Championship game in 2007. In the crowd was electric the entire game. It was amazing.
