You know whats funny, my parents let us watch that but wouldnt let us watch The Simpsons.

Then one day they relented and let us watch an episode of the Simpsons - which turned out to be the ep where Marge paints Mr. Burns in the nude. That put the nail in the coffin

my family was too poor to afford cable, so i never watched Nickelodeon shows growing up

I didnt care for R&S but the sentient fart, or the dude who farted on bread was funny of its time

Yeah this one was great. It's actually funnier now as an adult, the amount of subtle adult humor they got away with on a kids' show is pretty unreal

Rocko wasn't part of the original Trio which I think TC only wanted to included those in the poll.

I didnt know it was a trio. I do remember Doug and Rugrats coming out at the same time.

Doug, Rugrats, and Ren & Stimpy all premiered on the same day I think.

Then iirc Rocko and Hey Arnold were next

You are correct, they actually did. I have a digital copy of the premiere broadcast with commercials that was recorded on VHS originally.

I always hated Ren and Stimpy. John K art style is just so nasty to me. I don't enjoy looking at it at all. And the content was gross. Doug was boring, he was just a wimp living his wimp life. So Rugrats be default.

I still watch it often to this day and it is indeed nuts what they got away with.

Imagine having this awful of an opinion. We are all Doug.

Rugrats. Maybe it's me, but there's something about the early run of it that makes it hold up much more than the other two.

Doug is okay. Probably would have been way worse without Billy West (How Doug sounds makes me think of Fry a little bit) Ren and Stimpy was too gross of a show. Don't care for its creator either.

It teeter-tottered between Rugrats and Doug being my favorite (after a certain point, it was absolutely Doug but that was after more Nicktoons had already come out). R&S had its moments but it was a bit too much zany nonsense for me.

All three are fine, but out of those, Rugrats. And Ren & Stimpy wasn't good until John K got fired.

Doug is absolutely awful.

I can watch children's programming all day long, but Doug is just unwatchable now.

Seriously, dont go back. Theres nothing of any value.

Back in the day: Rugrats > Doug > Ren and Stimpy. I never got into R&S that much and only watched it when nothing else was on. It was too weird for me. Don't know how I'd take it now, but I got a feeling it would still be too weird for me.

I watched a bunch of Rugrats not too long ago and most of it still holds up for what it is and I still say it's a top tier Nicktoon. Haven't watched Doug in a very long time so I don't know about it. I liked it back in the day, but even then it was in the upper B-tier of Nicktoons anyway.

Rugrats was my favorite. Doug was next but I didn't like Ren and Stimpy. The humor was too gross to me.

But I loved Rugrats up until the Kimmie Era but I was an adult and it was time to just move on. I used to have the toys and I watched 2 of the movies in theater.

Doug was okay but I prefer Disney's Doug which I know is a bad opinion but I liked the changes and I think one of the things that pulled me was that it was technically a series that moved forward. Same with Rugrats. It actually developed.

All things considered, this is pretty damn evenly distributed. Didnt expect that.

i wasnt around for the original airings though. I wouldnt be born for another 5 years so there were a few seasons of each on reruns, which probably had an impact.

It was R+S > RR > D for me back in the day

I remember only really watching Rugrats just because it was there. I didn't hate it though. I guess Ren and Stimpy but it's been so long since I've seen it. I probably watched Doug the most.

Of those three, Doug. Doug produced a lot of fun episodes and ideas. It also had a few memorable songs, like I Need Mo' Allowance and Bangin' on a Trash Can.

It also has one of the most legendary moments of all animation history: "There's a Bomb in the lasagna!?"

I dont know that a cartoon like Doug could be successful anymore

that was a cartoon about a kid just trying to live his life and be good, and learning some hard lessons along the way

Ren & Stimpy, but Rugrats isn't far behind. Doug is straight garbage.

Rugrats was massively overplayed. Doug was really nice and low key.

I have to be in a certain mood for Ren and Stimpy. The creator is a disgusting sex pest though so that looms over the series.

I'm a KaBlam guy though, that one is the winner.

He was fired after the first season, at least. The show was a lot better after he left, too.
