Those don't last as long and are also expensive.

Because of the ones I've seen, they all have some form of seed oil that is insanely high in polyunsaturated fats. Canola oil is terrible for your health. Meat and animal product alternatives still need to have some kind of attractive draw to them besides "it's not meat".

Great rebutal.

Anyway, yes, processed seed oils tend to be higher in Omega-6 which causes inflammation, they lack the proper type of amino acid for cognitive function via strengthening your myelin sheathes (the proper amino acids are easily found in animal fat and butter), and they require artificial antioxidants to prevent spoilage. If your product needs additives beyond salt to stay on the shelf longer, I'm not touching that shit. Especially not nitrates in meat products.

If you're going to use something to prevent your food from sticking to a pan, butter (NOT the stuff that is made with seed oils in it), animal fat, or avocado or coconut oils are your best bet.

I believe you mean "fatty acids," not amino acids. Amino acids are the monomer that comprises proteins, and are typically present only in minute trace amounts in oils (if at all).

Also, omega 6 fatty acids are not inherently bad for you, but you need a roughly equivalent amount of omega 6 and omega 3. That means consuming too much omega 6 is indeed bad for you, but that's not a matter of "you need to avoid them" as it is "you need to avoid consuming more of them than you do omega 3's." Omega 3 can be harder to get, so that's a bit of a challenge, but it's not inherently a reason to avoid 6.

Thank you for the correction, my bad on messing that up. Regarding the omega issue, most Americans are already ingesting Omega 6 at a much higher rate than 3, which is the issue. Yes, one serving of canola or safflower won't be a problem, but when you consider the volume and frequency at which those oils are consumed, the ratio is thrown off balance very quickly. Most of the food industry has switched to using them because they're cheaper and store longer with less storage concerns.

Yeah, omega imbalance is definitely a concern because of how prevalent 6's are, and to that end trying to limit their intake isn't a bad idea (and generally easier/healthier than binging 3's to compensate).

Canola oil has an omega-6 to omega-3 ratio of 2:1; among common dietary fats only flaxseed oil has a better ratio (and flaxseed has a smoke point of only 225F, making it useless for most cooking). It also has the lowest level of saturated fat.

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/5/7/7/AAQwHjAAEF3B.jpg

If you're concerned about your omega-3 intake, a four ounce serving of salmon or 1 tablespoon of flax seeds are going to give you more omega-3 than a DOZEN eggs, with substantially less cholesterol and saturated fat. Mackerel, herring, and sardines have even more omega-3 per ounce (just 2 ounces of sardines, half a tin, has 1500-1700 mg of omega-3, compared to 90 mg for the average egg!)
