I didn't watch this far in. But this came up on my twitter feed. And just was like.wow this just so bad. It is like "adult" shows thing is that everyone is a just horrible and thats it.

About twenty years ago, WB had another terrible idea about recycling franchises, and it's no secret that everyone involved intentionally tanked it. This is probably what's happening again.

Because I can see them turning Shaggy into "If I kill all these hot chicks and blames Velma, and then helps her finding the real killer, which my planted evidence will prove is micropenis Fred, then she must fall in love with me!".

I watched the first two episodes. It's not great, but it's okay.

Except Shaggy. He has nothing in common with the Shaggy we know. I could see the others eventually becoming who they are in the old show (since this is a prequel), but not Shaggy.

Calling it now, in the last episode of the season, Shaggy gets a puppy and names him Scooby Doo.

I don't really care because I was never gonna watch this anyway unless it got Invincible levels of praise. But changing existing characters never really sat well with me. Just create new ones

I watched the first episode last night. Not for me. These aren't the Scooby-Doo characters so I don't see the point. It's not "adult Scooby-Doo" it's like playing a game with unlockable Scooby-Doo outfits for the games original characters. I like Mindy too so this is disappointing

Honestly it is really fun talking about how bad this show is. I never been a big fan of thw IP..besides Scrappy so don't take thesuckage to heart.

It feels like watching Titans. Like that show was so bad talking about how bad was was like a game.

She is one of the writers, but that show had a pretty huge pile of writers and like 20 producers. If anything, I would say the main brain behind the show is Michael Schur, who was a writer for the office and then went on to create parks and rec, Brooklyn nine-nine, and the good place.

The thing with Harley Quinn is that the show really doesn't 'change' the characters in a drastic way. They're still the characters we recognize, they've just been exaggerated and given jokes. The fact that they are so similar in so many ways to the classic characters is what makes the show fun.

It pokes fun at them and plays around with them without sacrificing what makes them interesting and iconic in the first place. You look at the cast of Harley Quinn in this scene:

You immediately recognize every character in the scene, you can identify their iconic traits, and the jokes are actually funny because they're based on the characters.

The tragedy is, this Velma show could have worked if it wasn't so drastically different in every way from the cast we know-- and if the jokes were actually funny, it would help.

It's got a lot of "white people bad" bullshit.

I think it's trying to be Harley Quinn show 2.0. Except Harley Quinn can get away with it because she's a villain so her being edgy isn't out of the ordinary. Velma is a good person though, so that's probably why this concept doesn't work. I haven't watched it, just from looking at the trailer and reviews, it's giving me that vibe.

I didnt want to watch it to begin with but Ive seen people attacking it because of diversity & wokeness. So now I have to support it because of racists attacking it.

Watched both episodes.
While it wasnt as bad as I expected, it made me smile some times, it is clearly something different forced upon the Scooby IP.
Would have been better without the Scooby IP.

This show literally screams to me "We don't know what the fuck we're doing over here" from a management standpoint, what I've seen of it anyway.

I don't even mind they're trying to use nostalgia to prop it up--I've seen far worse nostalgia-related travesties(although it is pretty bad). I don't even have a problem with it being "woke" despite the fact I hate that term. I hate the fact that it's just... bad, in almost every single regard. I guess for what it is, the animation(not the art style, the actual animation) isn't terrible, but still.

Because A: The original idea that they adapted had 4 characters and they didnt want to "ruin" it even more by adding a fifth character.
B: They couldnt figure out how to do "adult humor" with a talking dog.
