Yeah. Thats what the person on the phone told me Saturday morning. Well, he made it sound like as soon as they could get him out the door.

But I sleepily pushed back and Ive made it known if he goes home in this condition it wont go well. I dont have the ability to clean him or get him to the bathroom or do that.

But it sounds like the antibiotics are doing their thing and hes a lot more understanding today. Able to follow a conversation much better. Plus my brother gave him something to look forward to: going out to see his family in West Virginia.

Alright. I have a whole list of stuff I have to accomplish. But my brother told me to get a Transfer Upon Death deed for the house and my wife and Ill own it. Then when we move out he said hed probably buy it and pay off the siblings for their cut. So that will be nice.

Itll require getting his will changed. But thats not difficult to do.

Theres a family chat on Facebook so Ive been letting my aunts and uncles and cousins know about my dad.

I was told by two different people, a doctor and a nurse, hes supposed to get doses of oxy every 8 hours on schedule. But then it didnt happen and now Im told its only by request. Ugh.

Fucking hell. Get to the hospital and they have a No food after midnight sign. I get into the room and hes eating.

the no food was to install a drain to drain his abscess. But apparently some surgical fellow came by when my dad was being cleaned and fussy about it and saying No and they just went he doesnt want it, we wont do it but still didnt pull the NPO (I dont know what it stands for but thats the no food), and the nurse finally had to beak it to give him a sandwich and a soda.

oh and the doctors said they were going to call me and never did, I didnt find this out until I got here. If they had called me this morning I would have come right in. Ugh.

Just talked to the main doctor in charge of his care right now. There was a lot of Left Hand not talking to the Right Hand. Different people making decisions without contacting me, and doing so whole Jim is being cleaned and hes grumbling and upset about it. So I made my frustrations known that they NEED to contact me when decisions are made. Hes got an infection and doesnt always think straight and they throw too much information at him too quickly so he says No and they leave.

so the goal is to get his drain done tomorrow, find out how much radiation hes already had to see if thats even an option (because whats the point of asking him if hed do it if he cant even receive it?!)

So Im a little amped up, but not yelling or getting belligerent. But just pushing to what has supposed to be done to make decisions.

Well, another doctor came by with more information/discussion. Jim is not a candidate for Chemo in his current condition. Radiation therapy is most likely out, but there hasnt been a final decision by that medical team.

When it comes to the drain, even though he expressly requested it yesterday, when the fellow came by he was being changed and cleaned and I was not here in violation of his desire to have his Health Care Agent (me) here. Decisions where made while he was under duress that did not reflect his actual wishes.

Ive been berating anyone that comes near me (without yelling or being belligerent), about the site ruin. The nurse manager for the ward asked me about him and I let her have an earful and shes not happy. Shes trying to get the medical team back here tonight so we can get this drain done in the morning.

The chemo guy also said they have not done a chest Ct so they dont know if the cancer has necessarily spread. So I pushed hard for that to happen. He pushed back with nonsense about whether or not Jim would even want to do any sort of therapy after but I made it know that he cant make an informed decision if he doesnt know the full extent of his cancer. So that should be getting done now too.

Right now the only therapy he has in front of him is an infusion immunotherapy called Keytruda. The problem is theyre not entirely sure what kind of affect it will have because Jim did not complete his first or second line therapies (radiation and chemo respectively), but it is something that could be done. The decision to do that is done after he would leave the hospital.

And now hes asking for ice water but he STILL has the no food order (NPO) even though hes not currently set for a procedure that would require it... so Im very very unhappy.

He got dinner, ate quite a bit of it, and is getting the CT scan in a bit. I really got under someones skin.

NPO is Latin, iirc.

I know what you mean by the left hand not talking to the right. When my mom was in the hospital, everyone was telling my sisters that she was getting better and that we should make arrangements to get her into a rehab, but then she started dying, and the nurse called in the main doctor to authorize morphine to make her last moments comfortable, and the doctor said she knew mom wouldnt be going home. My youngest sister was so upset, and I dont blame her.

That's pretty messed up. Sorry that happened to you.

Yeah Im stating to get upset right now thinking about it. My mother was dying(according to the doctor) and the nurses were getting us to force her to eat.
