These boomer memes are fucking dumb and I have yet to see anyone put an end to this.

If youre experiencing temperatures at X degrees and then experience temperatures at X-25 degrees the very next day, its going to be jarring for anyone regardless of which climate you live in (lets ignore Arctic weather for simplicity sake).

For example, growing up in Wisconsin, a change from 32 degrees to 7 was terrible, but 7 degrees is much better relative to when its -15 and you must cover every part of skin besides your eyes.

Meanwhile Imagine its 70-75 for weeks on end. Its t-shirt/ hoodie weather. Beach days are still in the cards during the day. But all of a sudden the temperature drops to 45-50 the next day. That hoodie youve been sporting when it was 70-75 degrees isnt going to mean shit for your body and youre going to need to add more layers to satisfy your comfort level.

Meanwhile, if youve been wearing a winter coat for months in sub-freezing temperatures, that same jacket is going to feel overbearingly hot in 50 degree temperatures.

The only people who claim 55 isnt cold are the ones briefly experiencing a heat wave in a cold winter climate. These same people literally have their thermostats set to 78 when they come home, while turning on their fireplace.

Level of humidity, wind chill, cloud coverage, and precipitation all matter too.

50 can feel nice on a sunny dry day with no wind. Now 50 with wind whipping and rain is going to be miserable.

Cashiers don't get to move around as much. At my last job the union employees would be in shorts and t-shirts in the winter because they were the ones moving and doing the actual physical work. Management would be in winter coats, scarves, and gloves cause they essentially stood still all shift long.

Minnesota here and i look at the difference between 40s in the fall and 40s in the spring.

40s in the fall i am BUNDLED.THE FUCK.UP. It's goddamn COLD. Close to fucking freezing!

40s in the spring is shorts and t-shirt weather. it's FINALLY FUCKING WARM!

and i believed him! i dont know how yall do it with this snow. ill stick to my sunny beaches and warm weather thank you

I had to have our furnace fixed, it went out on a really cold day... and I went out to meet the repair tech in pretty much the same, t-shirt and slacks. He calls out "T shirt day!?" "Yeah, it's not that cold right now..."

Fahrenheit makes more sense to humans for weather than Celsius. A range of 0F-100F for cold to hot makes more sense than like -17C to 37C. Who gives a shit about the freezing and boiling points of water?

Living in California, I've never worn a winter coat. They're too stuffy. It's supposed to be winter right now but it still feels warm.

i'm in NJ and its 50 over here now, i just go to work in my usual outfit of just the required long sleeve dress shirt and pants. It's not cold man and its the rainy 50 and not the sunny 50.

I also like to have my thermostat set to 73 or lower, and i have no fireplace nor do i want one, i can't sleep when its hot

It's like people get acclimated to their climate. What a shock!?

Not all of the "lol X people can't handle cold" is created equal. Yeah, if you think 55 F is cold, you need to toughen up. If you can't drive on the ice in Atlanta because the freeway was built at a higher angle because they weren't designed for ice/snow, thats way different.

0-15 is winter-coat cold.
15-40 is wear a sweater/hoodie weather.
40-55 is light-jacket or long-sleeve shirt.
55- is t-shirt weather.

I'm from Wisconsin. I'm not gatekeeping this is literally how things are here. My thermostat doesn't go above 70 to heat my home.

On the flip side we cannot stand heat above 80 degrees. Especially with a high humidity index.
