they don't. They also don't appreciate sarcastic anger. People that yell at their dog in a joking way need to stop.

dogs respond to tone and volume more than the words you say. if I'm talking in a 'nice' voice I can ask my dog "do you wanna go to the glue factory and never come home? do ya boy?" and he'll look at me with big old eyes and wag his tail

We could talk to them in their own language: barking, growling, wiggling our bottoms, and peeing on stuff.

Lol i use to talk shit to my dog in the nicest tone, and he'd respond to the nicknames I gave him, too. I was a jerk, but I loved and spoiled my pup at the same time, though. I miss him, he was my little bro. I had to get cats so I didn't feel like I betrayed him... lame, maybe, but it took me a full year to get over his passing

There is a phone app that touts itself as a dog communicator which uses recorded whines and barks. One demonstration sent a message to an untrained dog asking for affection, and the dog started licking its owner's face. It was an MXR video where Henry and Jeannie were trying out different products and used it with their dog Ein.

Lol I am going to sound like an asshole but I absolutely hate when people do that voice. Like I will want to just leave the room. Especially when my sister does it and makes her voice like incredibly high pitched.

I think they do, at least some do. Sometimes I utilize my girlfriend to help me get my dog to do things he normally refuses to do (like take vitamins or medicine or whatever) because her voice is much higher pitched and does the baby voice much better and he responds better to that than my boring voice.

But if you're always talking to your dog like a baby, it's a bit annoying.

It's been over a year since my dog died and I'm still not over it. I also could never get another dog.

I had a former friend (who's not a friend anymore partly because of this) that had serious anger and mood issues and whenever he'd get upset or even jokingly say to me "are you kidding me?" That was like a trigger for his dog because he'd always start an outburst with that phrase.

your own name would make me think you would be aware of this cats

Cats can respond to that voice too. I use it on my cat sometimes to get him to come over. I'm mostly just saying

Come here, come on

Over and over but in that voice. Animals trust that tone
