We met 6 years ago, working for American Red Cross, been married for 3. Found out on Friday she has tumors around her pelvic, her ovaries and one pushing her liver. They said it's advance, will test more but likely stage 3, or 4 if the liver is infected rather than just being pushed.

2022 sucked, her father and a child patient she took care of for 5 years passed away. I also lost a cousin and my grandma too.

2023 fucking sucks already. She worried I'm bottling everything up, I haven't told my family yet because I didn't want to upset them during new year. I guess making a topic here just helps me get it off my chest. I don't know, shit been hard.

i'm sorry you and her have to go through all that. that's a lot to heap on in just a couple years. i wish her the best. here's to hoping that they caught the cancer soon enough that it can be treated effectively. modern medicine has come a long way and can truly work miracles some times, so don't lose hope.

Thanks for the response everyone. We're seeing the doc this Thursday to start a pathway for treatment and such. I'm trying my best to be strong for her but it's tough, she has a very nonchalant outlook on death, she takes it as just another thing, which is hard for me understand.

She's been through a lot, she lost 2 brothers when they were babies, a 3rd brother is autistic (he was a twin, one died during birth). She's only 34, she's worked in healthcare for like 15 years, she gives so much of herself for other. I guess I'm mad about life working like that.

A little bit lol but she's ok with it. She stuck around and became a citizen last year! She waited 15 years for that! She loves her home Brazil, but she was happy when she became a citizen.

She's doing good y'all, She's been given meds for the pain and she's doing her best to keep it normal for now. She has a daughter, (my step) that we haven't told yet, so we're trying to keep our emotions in check. It's gunna be tough to tell her, she's 13.

I have twice recently. Got to see her hometown and family, she grew up outside of Rio de Janeiro. First time we got an Airbnb at some gated apartment complex and the second time we stay at a hotel along Copacabana beach.

She's in a lot of pain right now but still gutting it out to work. She's a supervisor at a medical lab, she says they need her there because other people need their medical test done. *sigh*

I signed up for one of those therapists online. I haven't really talked to anyone about it other than whatever is here. So maybe it'll help.

I'm glad you signed up for the therapist - unfortunately it sometimes takes a few times to find one that you "fit" with.. have you looked at groups for people who have family going through cancer treatment? The doctor or hospital might have some contacts...

Lastly there's no "right" way you should be handling something like this.. keeping things bottled up is sometimes what helps in the moment if that makes sense

She was a lot better just now, tired but not so much pain. Going to work help led her mentally she says. She's right, she's not gunna lay down and die and I shouldn't be like that either.

She told me to stop being so sad when I look at her yesterday. She's here's, she's gunna fight it, and needs me to be strong too. But honestly it's rough.

UPDATE:
We gone to the doc today. They said it's likely ovarian cancer. They have more test to do tho. There is a big tumor right behind her cervix that is pushing and making her feel bloated. There are pockets of tumors around the area front and back. There's liquid near the big tumor and liquid building in her lungs.

First plan is removing those liquid and the big tumor. Then chemo and whatever else comes after that. 2023 will be a tough year.

Yes, from what Ive seen chemo can be rough. I know youll be as patient and supportive as she needs you to be. Its clear you love her very much.

Yeah, that's some heavy shit. I can't imagine how rough it is going through that. You guys seem to have had an awesome time together in all of these pictures. I hope things get back to that.

I dont want to call them out, but there's a few guys on CE that have gone through/are going through similar things with their wives. Hopefully, they see this and can maybe offer some advice

My wife has cervical cancer right now TC. About a month ago they did an ablation and while they were there they got a lot of her cancer. There is still some left, but they are confident they will get it all out. I have been staying positive and crying on my own. I wish you the best buddy. If you need anything you can pm me anytime

My dad was sick in late 2021 with leukemia
but he is recovering. Ended up donating my blood marrow to my dad.

Hopefully your wife can recover well.
