Anthony interesting you are planning on growing this year?

I just got all of my seed starting equipment and I'm preparing to start onions.

So far I'm planning on
White Spanish onions
Sugar daddy snap peas
Sugar Ann snap peas,
20(ish) hot pepper varieties (hottest being a variety of sugar rush or prairie fire)
Sugar crunch cucumbers
Sun sugar tomatoes
San Marzano Redorta tomatoes

I sure the hell am.
It's one of the things that sustains me.
I didn't have a car last year, but I made due.

I will always have a flower bed.
Then Tomatoes.
Pepper Mint and Cat Nip for sure....My Cat Planted his cat nip btw.

Tyme is out there...Rosemary if and Lavander....if they can make it through the winter.

Yes, I have a green thumb for sure. I miss the smell of dirt this time of year.
I'm actually trying to see if I can make som Mums make it through the winter.

Any particular varieties? I absolutely love peppers. One of my cats lives fresh catnip and begs to pick them himself. My other cat loves dried catnip. My wife is also planning lavender and basil

that seems like an insane amount of peppers considering the yield you can get from even a single plant

you're gonna be drying enough peppers to last you decades

I go through a lot of peppers. Carolina Reaper isn't even enough. The prairie fire peppers are just ornamental. I'm trying to overwinter the peppers, but am afraid of how productive the ones that survive will be

All I can tell you is pay attention to your garden. What you grow your first year will determine what you can grow the following years. For example, here in Atlantic Canada things like cabbage and lettuce don't do so well. Sure they grow ridiculously big, but bugs get at it. By the time it was ready for harvest, they were destroyed with bug bites. So if that's the case where you live, find a way to prevent that, either through putting it in a greenhouse, or finding some anti-bug solutions to spray on it.

My successful harvest last year was potatoes, cherry tomatoes, pumpkin and snap peas. I'm not really a fan of snap peas but mom wanted to grow it, god knows why.

So next year I'm tripling up on cherry tomatoes. Instead of planting lettuce, cabbage, onions, carrots and garlic I'm going to just be planting tomatoes, hot peppers, and I'll be growing herbs. That way I can bottle my own pasta sauce, hot salsa, and just have extra tomatoes for sandwiches. They last a ridiculously long time compared to what I can purchase locally.

The potatoes will be turned into tornado fries or roast potatoes... or chips if I feel like making the effort.

I started one last year, I quickly gave up because gardens are a lot more work than I originally thought.

My plan was to have a garden so I wouldnt have as much yard to mow. Well I found out mowing is much easier than maintaining a garden.

I did find they are perfect if you work from home. It's an excuse to take a break. I always took one to water and prune. I didn't have much interest in eating the fruit and vegetables, but my wife does. So I keep them alive until she's ready to harvest

I miss my garden ;_; I primarily grow heirloom tomatoes and green and hot pepper variants. I've toyed around with eggplants and potatoes. I've tried to save seeds from my own-grown heirloom tomatoes twice. I've managed to get them to sprout but none ever hardened enough to survive outside planting.

Growing up, my family kept a garden in the yard and down the hill from our house, along a creek bottom we owned. It was fantastic. All our neighbors kept gardens too. It was fun running through them in the summer and hiding in the plants or checking out all the bugs.

I kept a garden from 2016 through 2020. I moved to a giant city where I don't have enough space in 2020.

Photos is all I got left.

You can get chicken wire and some rods for fairly simple fences that will keep rabbits, ground hogs, and potentially deer out.

Last year I planted:

4 tabascos
2 ghost peppers
2 Apocalypse Reds (a scorpion variety from Bonnie)
2 red habaneros
2 jalapenos
1 serrano
1 chipotle (really just another jalapeno, which I always let vine ripen anyway)
3 anchos (poblanos really that I also let fully ripen and then dehydrate and grind into chili powder)

I didn't have as many exotics as previous years.
