I think he was a fugitive on the run and also being pursued by his crazy wife and the pretending-to-type-things detective guy and he kept having run ins with random people.

You've just summarized the entire show, so it may not be for you if you didn't enjoy that.

I watched it up til the doctor confronted the orphanage guy with the shotgun. I won't say it was bad but evidently I lost interest. I couldn't tell where it was going and not in a good way, and the encounter felt 'episodic'

No I didn't, there was this Johan Liebert dude looming in the back. I mean like is it good when he does whatever he's planning to do? Or is there no plan and he just stays in the back, creating problems?

IIRC, you kind of did. There's no grand conspiracy or big final boss battle that I remember. It's just a slow character exploration.

Someone mentioned this show to me about a week ago as something to try, I'll give it a look.

Yeah, I remember thinking that it was a show made entirely of filler that wasn't actually filler because the filler was the point.

Keep in mind that I haven't seen this show in at least fifteen years though.

Excellent series. I hope they release the whole thing.

There definitely is a big plan and a final "boss battle". But you're also right that the things that seem like filler are not filler. Largely just exploring the characters as the world around them impacts their moralistic views.

I'll wait til they add the rest. I never finished Monster back when it aired on i think sci fi channel more than a decade ago. They used to air 2 episodes a week. And for a while I was watching. Something caused me to start missing episodes and Iost track of and forgot about the show. I've always meant to try it again

It's good, though I think the ED is better. At least the one that includes the full David Sylvian song.
