Yeah, I find intermittent fasting to be a godsend. I can delay eating for several hours in the morning and only be somewhat hungry. But as soon as eat, I am ravenous again a short time later.

Also, going running at the end of my fast (like 16 hours without eating) means that I have to draw on fat reserves to have any energy at all.

Not sure if you already talked about walking, but aim to walk 3 miles a day then. It can be done in an hour or less (most are btwn 15 and 20 minutes per mile), and it burns 300 calories. May not seem to be a ton, but 300 x 365 = 109,500 calories a year. Divide that by 3,500 calories per pound and that is over a 31 pound difference, assuming that your eating doesn't change.

I walked over 5 miles just the other day by mowing the lawn and cleaning the house. I burned over 4000 calories that day.

Yeah just stick with what you know works!
I can relate to the monogamy of the old school 3 or 5 meals a day diet though. If you are prone to the binge eating like me and always looking for that full, sick, satisfying feeling of overfeeding yourself, i say try Intermittent Fasting.
And if you dont cook, one thing i used to do was go to panda express and get like a party size tray of teriyaki chicken and portion it of for the week. Or get a rotisserie chicken.

I try to make sure my big meal has a lot of protien in it then fill in the rest of my calories with fruits, veggies, and other random snacks. Makes it less boring since nothing is really of limits.

its funny because I probably was doing that years ago without realizing it, not a great thing for me because I was underweight probably partly because of that, I just wasnt that hungry in the morning then I'd get really busy working or doing whatever and kind of forget to eat until it's like 3 PM, but then I can't suddenly eat a big ass meal, It's still the same 600-700 calories meal and I usually would end up eating 1500-1700 calories daily

Yeah do it man!!!

Some other ideas though not the best for non cooking people is deli meat and making huge sandwiches easy on the mayo. Add lettuce and tomato as filler and texture.

6 ft tall, 41, currently down to like 200lbs, moderately muscular build. Im not pudgey or anything, but i look a little soft. Down about 12lbs since the beginning of the year at my carbed out weight. Most likely 3-4lbs non water weight lost

My goals are kind of different from your guys. I'm trying to get shredded. I'm in a wedding this summer and I want to be super cut. Also, I'm not sure how many years I have left where I can be a douchey muscle hunk.

Been essentially using intermittent fasting. I don't have strong feelings on it beyond personal preference. I've never been a breakfast guy, so it's pretty much my natural eating habit. CICO is what I'm actively doing. I'm used to bulk/cut cycles. I just shovel bland chicken breast and stuff in my mouth. Very much in a food is numbers mode

In general, none. My job involves sitting in my cubicle for 8 hours. So unless I exercise that day, I'm pretty sedentary.

If it replaces a meal. Obviously not if it is additional calories.

protein bars often used by people wanting to gain weight because if they dont have time to cook they can just eat one of those and its good nutrition, easier to eat more calories if there is less prep time I guess

A lot of them are straight up junk. They'll have protein and then a ton of sugar. So you'll get like 25g protein at 400 calories, which sucks. The ones with a good protein to calorie ratio are gross tasting or disgusting consistency

Protein powder generally has much better options if you're going with meal replacement

Yeah, unless you are strapped for time and need a quick meal replacement with protien, protien bars arent needed really.

Maybe as a dessert option for something quick and sweet maybe. But yeah, if protien us really needed as a supplement, protien powder is usually a better option.

Forcing myself to eat this apple to keep my streak of eating fruit alive lol.

Fasted for like 20hrs. Ate a big serving of air fried green beans and 3 tyson teriyaki chicken thigh filllets. Also munched on some potato chips waiting for everything to be heated up.
Ate a granola bar after eating and now eating the apple. Feel pretty full, but i know the calories arent too much so thats good.

Pretty good. I toss it in olive oil with salt pepper and garlic and cook at highest setting for like 8 minutes with some shaking in the middle of cooking. Also sprinkle parmesan cheese in the end and maybe a squeeze of lemon if feeling fancy

Wow! Thanks for sharing. Man, I had the same experience with back pain, like to the T, except for being born with it, but I was destined for it. Injured my lower back when I was 18 working as a mechanic. Went on to injure it several more time later. Ended up with a herniated disc, arthritis, obesity, day surgery pain treatments, doctors, pt, meds, all that shit.

And now, I do fear I may be feeling the signs of a hernia, right side. I'm not sure yet.

How was that for you? Did the shit just sproing out, or could you tell over a little time that it was coming on?

Exactly, and I need to add a couple of things you have listed there. I will also add flys to that, as that really works the pecs.

I also use a bench for this, and have a pullup bar as well. So I guess I have those in addition to the dumbbells.

Had to take Amlodipine for hypertension for awhile and even though I was lucky to not have noticeable side effects, I didnt want to continue. Rather lose weight and eat veggies than take medication.

Anyway, I read what you wrote and Im sorry about that. I dont know if its rude for me to say this, but Im going to try hard not to complain about trivial crap anymore.

I know this might be cost prohibited, but I would keep looking for a doctor that would sign off on you. I work with people with disability for anything. Like ANYTHING. And since you someone who really need to help. You should not be hurting while other people who are fine skate by.

If you can look up the reviews for someone and see what people say about them. You want someone who will speak with you and just not rush you out.
