My parents did not make me into a man. There was one rule that I learned from my father, "son, please just do what your mother asks" because we were all scared of her and he didn't want to make her mad. She had severe emotional swings and would sometimes rage for days on end. She is now very deep into Q and is only getting worse. I'm very concerned that she will donate anything i may inherit to online personalities that she believes are profits.

I think I finally became a "man" on my own when I was about 25/26. I've been in one serious relationship with a woman, but I feel like it's not for me. She left me and I will probably live alone for the rest of my life, short of letting a family member or friend live with me if they are on hard times. I developed a drinking problem in my teens and 20s that I think I will never totally kick, but if this is being a man, then maybe my parents did turn me into a man. I don't really know.

For italicised comment A, you are not inherently entitled to any of your parents' assets. I would be less concerned it might eat into your inheritance and be more concerned about your mother's mental health.

For italicised comment B, I feel you, and I understand. It's better to kick that habit, however you can. Don't worry about whether your parents turned you into a man, as much as whether you've taken the raw materials you've been given and turned yourself into a decent person. I don't want to get all Philip Larkin here, but often we become the best person we can be *despite* our parents, rather than with their aid.

I didn't want to make it sound like I really care for the inheritance or need it or anything, I've just heard the horror stories of how people find out they have no inheritance because when they go into the house after the parents die they find that they spent like 100,000 usd on QVC or beanie babies or something, or they blew it all in the casino in their twilight years. I just wanted to enunciate that this is the direction I think my mother is trending in, though it's in a bit more of a Q way.

And on my mothers mental health. If you are a woman who's husband has never stood up to you, you've been allowed to full Karen and think you're right about everything you're whole life, and now you're over 60 years old...How exactly do you break someone out of that? The bed is made, it is what it is.

Perhaps "allowed" is the wrong word? Personally, I don't "allow" my wife to do anything, because she's not a possession or a slave. Y'know?

How do you imagine someone becomes a Karen? Dont get hung up on the "allowed" verbiage. People become Karens because they're shitty beliefs and attitudes are never challenged in meaningful ways.

"Allowing" and "challenging" are two different kettles of fish. If we're talking about challenging, then I entirely agree.
