Eerily similar to my M-inlaw. NCIS all day. But she takes it past not liking things in commercials to "Why is it always a black guy with a white girl"

NCIS sounds slightly better than Hallmark movies and the Waltons, thats what usually on when I stop over.

that said, Im glad it isnt always Fox News like it used to be.

She bought some cable tv thing, but she only uses basic, cause having more than one remote was too much for her to grasp

My mother is 70 and my stepfather is 66. They use voice commands on their cable remote. I also have cable, and I have the same remote. I do not use voice commands -_- I may be more boomer than them.

It's wild isn't it? It goes like this:
  • Boomers = One Remote, can't figure out how to get the TV back to the cable or on a DVID player
  • Gen X = 2000 remotes, one for the TV, one for the stereo the TV feeds sound in, one for the cable, one for the DVD player, one for a VHS player that hasn't been used since Bush got reelected in 08, and a bunch that they have no recollection of the use of but are afraid to throw out
  • Millennials = One universal remote that does everything, inexplicable drawer full of unused remotes that came with stuff "just in case", eventually dumped in a good will bin to begin the cycle anew
  • Gen Z = "What's a remote?" as they they play on a tablet or their phone.

I introduced her to streaming services like...5-6 years ago despite her being adamantly against them for whatever reason. Since then she somehow managed to get super in to anime as of like 2 years ago and it is just the most jarring shit ever for some reason lol.

that happened to my mother in law!

she is this down to earth Mexican lady, who just randomly got super into anime after coming across it on streaming

i think it started with food wars she was visiting and kept going on about it, I thought it was some cooking show but then its was just HOLY SHIT this is almost hentai wtf
