I like Pedro Pascal, so I'm fine either way, but it would have been cool to see my boy, Dean Winchester, have it, too:

A new clip shared on social media sees Ackles sharing an anecdote about wanting the role at a fan event for Supernatural. In the short clip, the actor admitted I was kind of really pushing hard for Pedro Pascals role in The Last of Us. Though he quickly clarified "I don't think I was really in the mix or even had a shot at it." Adding I was like, oh, that was high up on my radar. However, Ackles confirmed that hes soon heading to shoot a whole day for a new game that's coming out," noting, while he "can't say what it is just yet," fans will "find out soon enough."

Damn after his role as Soldier Boy i'm pretty sure he'd be able to ace Joel. TLOU2 SPOIKERS AHEAD his death scene would be so good.

Michelle Williams (who was on Dawson's Creek) is probably the actor who has done the best (career-wise) after the CW.

I would've unironically loved that casting. He did a great job with Soldier Boy.

I think Pedro Pascal will still be a better fit overall though.

I always pictured Josh Brolin as Joel

the dude who played the dad on Supernatural (and Negan in TWD) would have also been a good fit, IMO.

that's kinda how I envision an older version of Joel.

I like him enough, but nothing I've seen him in tells me he'd be a good Joel, though I haven't seen past the first two seasons of Supernatural. He was a great Soldier Boy, but that's a pretty hammy role and not one that would suggest he'd make a good Joel.

His range sucks. I love Dean but that is all he can play and that is no Joel.

I've seen both. Not a ton of difference.

I think he'd look too young. It has been a long time since I played the first game. What was the time jump from the beginning of the game when everything went down to when Joel meets Ellie?

Good thing he didn't get casted as Joel though, he was awesome as Solider Boy in The Boys.

I hope he gets bigger roles, Jensen Ackles is pretty talented and sexy.

I am missing a lot of context here, but there are plenty of people who got too into their roles and it hurt their performance.

I cant remember all of it, sorry, but like he disliked joel and didn't wanna really relate or try and be him for the role, and that to me made zero sense

If this is what you're referencing, you've misremembered. All he's saying is that he doesn't want to play the games because then he'll try and imitate Joel exactly, which he doesn't think he's good enough to do. It's similar to actors that are afraid to watch the original movie if they're acting in a remake because they think that subconsciously they'll try to recreate that original performance, which often just isn't possible.
