Not bad so far but I was under the impression more of the game was set on the train.

It's been 90 mins and we've crashed the train?

If so I'm disappointed. I wanted a horror version of Under Siege 2.

Looking back, Resident Evil Zero is not a must play and is completely skippable.

I know reception to this one is mixed but it can't fall off that hard right?

Disagree, aside from one annoying as all bloody hell boss.

Don't worry TC. If you liked up to that part you'll probably like the whole thing more or less. There are some crap sections and you really need to figure out how you want to play item management with no magic boxes, but the game remains the same. It's just that the train was a cool setting and the mansion is more of the same.

So I beat the game, some thoughts.

The story was poor and I have a hard time understanding how all this shit went down the day before RE1.

A bit baffled by the antagonist in this one as well and how neither Billy & Rebecca know who he is until the last 20 minutes of the game. The stakes just don't feel high enough or why the bad guy is even wasting his time with them.

I couldn't warm to Rebecca. Useless both in terms of story and gameplay. Really liked Billy though, would like to see him return to the series in the future.

Gameplay & Graphics still hold up only to be let down by having to drag the AI around with me and pu tup with the terrible inventory. Would it have killed them to give us two extra squares?

It's a shame that the game peaked on the train. The setting was so good but that the horror atmosphere just completely evaporated.

Overall I didn't hate it but it's down at the bottom with Revelations 1 for me

And fuck the Hookshot

m Having to make multiple trips to move your gear from area to area certainly was awful. Did they fix that in any of the more recent releases?

I don't think they ever did that again and just kept universal item boxes after that, at least on default difficulties

Resident Evil 0 is yet another example of Capcom being completely unable to keep any kind of canon sensible and coherent.

In the canon, Alpha team was out and looking for Bravo team within like 30 minutes, and finding them chewed up in mansion hallways probably 45 minutes after that.

Meanwhile Rebecca ends up in goddamn Racoon City and the lab from 2 before somehow going all the way back out to the mansion on a completely different day.

In all my years I don't think I noticed this tremendous continuity error. And yeah Zero is still canon in ref to James Marcus and Billy Cohen, so STARS went completely deaf on the whole giant fucking mansion and facility succumbing to a Michael Bay explosion >___>

I noticed it when I played. The amount of distanced Rebecca travels in the last 2 hours is insane.

This isn't true, they were sent a day later. Whether REmake and/or RE0 retconned that from the original, I don't know.
