He's booted up Splatoon 3 (X-Mas present) and in the tutorial, the motion / gyro controls are on by default.

"Why is it like this? Who even likes this? This is an awful idea" lol. It amuses me because as a kid, I think I'd have found the idea of motion / gyro like that really cool, but he wants to use traditional thumbstick aiming instead.

Before gyro controls were a thing I had a controller that would twist in the middle up to 90. I thought it was the greatest controller, especially for driving games. To this day I still think it was better than an analogue stick for driving games. It also had two analogue buttons for acceleration and braking control.

One day he'll learn thumbsticks are actually one of the worst methods of control for any game that requires aiming, like shooters.

That thing looks legitimately awesome lol.

I loved certain peripherals on the PSX, like that big grey gun for playing things like Point Blank or Time Crisis. They also had a smaller, green gun with a turbo mode if I recall, looked like a Makarov? Anyway, seeing an old school controller like that reminds me of those for some reason.

Oh, he already knows. He used to smack talk me on Fortnite sometimes for a laugh, so I took him into creative and nipped that in the bud lol. He doesn't game on my PC much though when he does, he tends to enjoy using the mouse. Was letting him do things for me in Satisfactory the other day.

I asked him if he'd want his own wireless mouse and keyboard for his Series S for Minecraft if it supports it and he said yes the other day, as long as I teach him the controls again.

My fiancee is a moderator for a few of the speedurn leaderboards for those games so I've seen her using that controller a lot. <3

That's why I gave up on shooters for consoles for the most part. Feels so clunky and slow to aim with a controller....used to love KB/M.

I used to refuse to play shooters on anything but KB/M, but as I've gotten older, my wrists have gotten weaker, so I'm now a controller-only player (even on PC) . Can't play competitively anymore, but with proper aim assist and increased camera sensitivity, it's manageable.

Also, final wishlist post of the topic. Nobody Saves the World would be lovely, but there are some other goodies in there

It's a strict 10% price difference limit and since currencies tend to fluctuate it can vary from year to year. Can also depend on the game because some publishers set their country prices differently.

CE typically runs a big gifting event during the biggest sales, so that would be during the Summer sale and of course, the Winter sale.

Many familiar faces come together, as well as new ones in order to spread some good vibes during the summer or festive cheer in the winter.

In the past, in the event that I've clicked too fast or made a mistake, I just check my e-mail to see who said gift was from. I believe the message sent shows up in there too, along with the name they posted in the sig space.

Unrelated side note. I figured I'd give the Factorio demo a try and oh boy, I can already tell I enjoy it more than Satisfactory and that's not a good sign lol. I can't quite put my pin on what it is, perhaps it's the simplicity of the presentation that works better for me. In Satisfactory, because of the first-person view and how good the game can look, I felt compelled to balance looks with functionality.

Whilst I want neat and tidy in Factorio too as well as efficiency, I think my brain logistics wise prefers the simple approach to graphics, more room to figure things out, function over form essentially.
