They aren't going to be able to claim damages, but as the article says, the fact that the consumers speaking out against the merger is going to undermine Microsoft's attempts to convince the necessary politicians that it's doing this to benefit consumers. Granted, nobody with a quarter of a brain cell ever thought this was about benefiting consumers, but politicians are even more out of touch than usual when it comes to video games, so it might make a bit of a difference.

They're out of touch with technology in general.

Activision blizz has been a pretty shit company for a while now, no idea why someone whos a fan of their games would be against them being bought out.

I don't give a shit either way because I still won't buy anything from Activision Blizzard, I just find it funny that Sony have decided to just cry and bitch rather then pull a real power move and buy EA.

EDIT: Just looked it up, and yea, I guess Sony could (didn't think PS makes them that much $$$)

Sony has a market cap of 93 billion, EA's is 33. By comparison, Microsoft's is 1.77 trillion (or roughly 20 times higher than Sony's) and ABK's is 60 billion. Comparatively speaking, Sony acquiring EA would be roughly 10 times bigger than MS acquiring ABK.

I don't know off-hand how profitable their gaming division is, but remember that Sony is a very successful manufacturer of lots of different electronics, and that success factors into their market value.
