Tl;Dr a company called CLEAR lets you pay a yearly subscription to skip past people who don't pay for it, and theyre in bed with airports. The company does not actually create any enhanced security. It's just a way for people with more money to go ahead of the plebs.

Im sorry, she said. I hate this process, too. She told me she had only joined CLEAR because she was sick of all the line-cutting.

but

Unlike with TSA Pre, whose purpose is to speed up the entire airport safety system, there is no public benefit to CLEARs role in the screening process; its simply a way for a companyand airports themselvesto make money at the expense of passengers.
Worse, its insertion into aviation security undermines a core government function.

theres no reason to support this outside of blatant slurping for capitalism

If someone said that to me I'd say "if you're sorry then you can let me in front of you"

What are gonna do about it though? Wait in line longer? $80 for 5 years for reduced wait times and screening is chump change.

... that's for TSA precheck. This topic and the post you responded to are not about TSA precheck.

Even for credit cards that include clear on top of pre-check, it's not worth it.

You're paying so much money to save literally 5 seconds in the pre-check line. And even if you didn't have pre-check, it's not worth it on its own.

Pre-check and whatever JetBlue is doing for their even more speed thing are much better deals.

Maybe if there was a tremendous line just to check your driver's license or passport, it could be worth it. But that's not the case.

Clear doesn't even replace pre-check. What good is spending that much money to log in with a fingerprint when the TSA is about to do facial recognition very soon.
