So a song put out in 1980 might've been classic in 2000 but is a song released in 2002 classic in 2022?

Never. Classic rock is a radio format, not a genre.

I continually moves forward as time moves forward. It seems that many classic rock stations start about 20 years back.

79ish? I feel like 80s moves into metal territory, possibly glam rock, though it existed prior to that.

Stuff that's from 20 years ago is on the stations now.

But older dudes who are elitist about what classic rock should be will say it ended September 10th, 1991.

I feel the original classic rock dudes would be in their 70s and say the era ended in 1979. They'd be the ones to call Bon Jovi "butt rock".

"Classic Rock" seems to be whatever was popular 20-30 years before the current date, plus whatever was released in the 70's.
